5 or 6 Qb’s out of 50 something is a stance you want to defend? Why? Because he wears a star on his helmet?

There’s never any guarantees but the solution to replace is like any other position. In the draft or FA.

Not sure why fans are so afraid of the unknown?

Regardless, is it really so bad to critique our own?

Boy is it! The list is actually a lot longer than 5 or 6. I was just too lazy to research it, because I’m only SEMI-retired. Plus, it’s just a game to me. In any event, it’s a sizeable portion. Enough to warrant attention, and dispel the notion that Super Bowls can’t be won by teams without elite QBs.

Not bad to critique our own—I’ve done it plenty of times myself, but nonstop critique begs the question...a balanced, reasonable fan or a just perpetually miserable obsession?

You’d think after the last era Cowboy fans would be ready for one of the greatest QB’s in the league like we had in both of our championship eras.

We’re fixing to bite on the first glitter that arises again. Instead of depending on the draft to bring us our savior.

I hate settling for second best.[/QUOTE

QBs like Staubach and Aikman were generational stars. We were lucky to have them. As far as “settling”, that’s all we could ever do.

sad how far we ve fallen where we need other things to make us feel good.

SJ will not be different from his dad. if he was, we d see it by now.
You aren't paying attention if you think SJ and JJ operate the same.

One can argue results won't change. Arguing nothing is different is ignorance.

That’s fine if we don’t have aspirations for winning championships. Otherwise we become more like the rest chasing their dreams.

The teams with the generational talent are in better position.

Besides that , we’ll just mosey along much like we have this era hoping for that one shining moment instead of another Glory Era.

Does it really matter if anything is different if the results don’t change or are we giving credit for style?

I’m just not cut out to cheer blindly like some of these Homers. I’ll raise hell cussin and hollerin all the way to the bank.

I think that was more of a media / fan urban legend type thing. But the the team sort of went along with it. Because they can and don’t care.

“I want you to know that almost as I was handing in the card, it was that close to putting that Manziel card in. It was that close,” Jones said. “I looked over to my son, Stephen, our chief executive officer, and I said ‘I took the right pick.’"

Yeah, I don't see Stephen snatching a card out of the hand that gave him a cushy career. But it makes some fans feel good to believe it. :muttley:

The last two "saviors" Jerry drooled over in the first round were Johnny Manziel and Paxton Lynch. And who can forget Quincy Carter?

As I said you can argue results which remains to be seen. To argue nothing is different is to be blind.

I've already gotten no used to this team killing itself all season long only to come up short in the playoffs. No reason to think it will be any different. Daks redzone passing is terrible and he looks for the screen pass then looks to run. It doesnt matter they have supposedly improved the WRs.

This is pretty much what every NFL team (besides the Patriots) hope for- one shining moment. The era in which the Cowboys used to rule the NFL is long gone. The league today is pretty much set up for every team to go 8-8. The franchises that have superior talent and coaching are better than that and the teams that have poor coaching, a rash of injuries, or other problems are worse than .500.

Over the past couple decades, New England is the only team to rise above this "setup" and the Browns have been the only team to truly fail to take advantage of it; unless we count last year's seven wins a successful season for them.

JJ didn't buy that condo on the water to spend his days in the office.

I’d of traded places this era with several other teams than the Patriots.

Fair enough. But I am having a hard time naming any that won multiple Super Bowls besides them. The Giants lucked into two of them (one time when they probably shouldn't even have been in the playoffs). The Saints, Packers, and Ravens won one and haven't been heard from since. Same for several other teams.

The Cowboys had decent shots at titles in 2007, 2009, 2014, 2016, and (arguably) last season. Change a play here and there and maybe Romo got a ring one of those times.

Don't misunderstand me; I am not happy with simple regular season success. The Cowboys' legacy is built on championships; not by simply being a playoff team every year. But my point is the NFL is set up today so that any team can win it all in any given year.

I may be delusional, but it gives me hope the Cowboys are close to the mountaintop again.

Bottomline is he didn’t take either. But they might have made it in this offense.

We really haven’t tried to draft a franchise qb this era. We’ve had success using high picks for other key positions , why not qb?

We have fans that see the results with Dak as better than the results with Romo. I see it as much the same so far.
