Why is the Cowboys owner visibility important ?

Most Cowboy fans for the first 25 years couldn’t even name our owner.

True, although social media/instant news has made today’s fan so much more knowledgeable.

That’s absurd. Your analogy is flawed as well. He doesn’t even respect the office he holds. We aren’t obligated to like or respect all of the moving parts including owners, coaches and players.

There’s many business we patronize and don’t like, respect or approve of the owner and or how they conduct their business.

I patronize Walmart, and I DESPISE those greedy, soulless bass-turds!

Right.. Booger isn’t an offending nickname.

We had a great aunt we called Booger cause she cussed, drank and smoked which back in the day as a school teacher was funny. She was a family favorite.

But IMO the nickname my closet circle of friends anointing him the day he bought the Cowboys” Jethro” after the character in Beverly Hillbillies is more insulting which it was intended to be.

10-4!

That’s all official-sounding and scientific and everything, but we all have our opinions. I don’t have the budget for a research staff (had to let them all go, but we DID have a banquet!), but I don’t have to “validate” my opinion with anyone. I’ll explain my viewpoint, but that’s about it, except for a little absurd smartassery. We’re not paid professionals, we’re fans, and we don’t have to prove anything.

That post was a valdation and respect of what Jerry Jones is as a man and owner.

If one feels he is not being validated, that is his business...I didn't reference a slight on any particular person. If one feels undignified by that, that is his business...not mine.

Didn’t this all start with a nickname?

I’m not sure if they’re more knowledgeable. They do have more access to info at their fingertips with internet without needing to make as much effort to gather or recall.

Unfortunately social media gives everyone a voice which I’m not sure is good because of the influence potential from manipulation and corruption to further an agenda. I tend to agree with Barkley.

I do not respect the NFL. I like football and enjoy watching it but I respect neither the NFL nor the NCAA. So, him being one of the most powerful owners in a league that I do not respect does not get respect. However, being the single largest contributor to the Salvation Army does get respect but I will still call him Booger and who's not showing respect? You don't capitalize his name.

Ya see, I don't care about Dallas in the media unless it has to do with the game of football and this man makes sure a lot of superfluous window dressing like his toys and how much they cost get into the media. The Cowboys are not my favorite team because they are the media darling but in spite of that.

I know some don't like the Booger nickname but I think it is obvious that I don't care if they do or not because you are not the first to not like it. You do have control if that offends you and your sense of "respect the office", don't read my posts or put me on ignore. It's really a simple fix when you fail to facilitate change. Because as long as there are those that will show disrespect to their office in how they serve it, I retain the right to disrespect it as well.

When I refer to him I do capitalize it when I refer to him by is name of Jerry and not the disrespected name you conjured up. All I have to say is hopefully some day before you die you actually grow up and stop acting like a little 5 year old.

Childish ways?!? Coach is a laid back absurdist who doesn’t take things too seriously. How can using the apt nickname “Booger” offend anyone?

It's funny, not ha ha funny, that except for a couple of players that once played for him the over whelming majority don't say the same disrespectful things that supposed Cowboys fans say about Garrett. But what do they know they just spent actual time up close with him and didn't sit on their couches thinking up disrespectful things to say about him.

Maybe fair weather or casual fans mat not but actual real fans knew it was Clint Murchison. I see you said "our"? Are claiming to have been a Cowboy now?

You may but the vast majority of people if they don't like a business they don't patronize it. The only exceptions of course is when we have no choice like the utility company or other things where we don't have a choice. But when we do again the vast majority of people don't patronize business they don't like. Now where is your proof that Jones doesn't respect the office of being president/GM of the Cowboys. Your opinion born out of hatred doesn't count as proof.

Everyone knows details much faster, but too many consider themselves experts. People know more about players, coaches and owners now, and everyone has an opinion.

Knowledge is equally available...performance is another storyline.

I like Jerry, but he’s public figure with lots of flaws. Many fans are highly critical, mostly because of the 23 years without a Lombardi, but a lot of us smile while shaking our heads. Supposed Cowboy fans?!? That’s funny! A good natured nickname doesn’t bother most people. Lighten up, Francis!

But there’s no denying the fact that the average fan knows more about their team. Take the Forum, I’ve learned things here that I didn’t know before. The average fan didn’t discuss player contracts or X’s and O’s in such detail before the Internet.

I wasn’t referring to the Cowboys pres. I was speaking to your analogy.

And I didn’t say didn’t like their business. I said didn’t like how the owner conducted themselves and or the business.

ES analogy of Walmart was a good one.

Maybe so. I can’t really say. I gain very little if any info about the Cowboys from this site.

I do agree it’s easier for fans to gain the info. They don’t need read 2 or 3 papers every morning and tune into the local news and radio .

In some ways, perhaps. What it also does is give fans snippets of information from which they draw broad conclusions.
