Dan Orlovsky’s description of Kellen Moore’s potential offense sounds like the exact opposite of Scott Linehan’s offense

Orlovsky isn’t coordinating an NFL offense these days, but he does lend his valuable insight to football fans everywhere thanks to his great Twitter account and appearances on ESPN. In fact, he recently made the rounds on the Mina Kimes Show and described what he thinks Moore’s offense could look like while discussing the merits of Dak Prescott and a new contract. It sounds awesome.

“I think it’s going to be an offense that is like Sean Payton married with Matt Nagy married with Mike Leach. Like they all had a baby and that’s what this offense is going to be.

This is going to be an offense that, it’s going to constantly move where Dak is throwing the ball from. And that’s kind of a catchphrase, “change the launch point”, but that matters. That matters when you have a guy that can move around and you have a really, really good running game. That’s a big part of your offense.

I also expect to see some really unique pre-snap motions and movements and shifts and trying to do things that are somewhat simple from an Xs and Os scheme standpoint, but always constantly changing the dress-up of it. I kind of analogize it to like, every guy in the world owns a navy suit. But the guys that wear it really well are constantly changing the shoes, and the socks, and the belt, and the pocket square where, if I stand next to the guy, we both have the same suit on but it looks totally different.

I just expect this offense to be constantly changing what it looks like before the snap. And then there’s going to be some college aspect to it, I promise you because Kellen’s background at Boise State. There will be some spread, four wide receiver, I would anticipate Dak being used as a runner more. I don’t know if it’s going to be an all-out thing, but third downs and redzone situationally stuff. That’s why there’s a lot of intrigue to it because what happens if Kellen Moore is really able to tap into who Dak is and all of his skills?”

Yeah yeah..

Last summer it was going to be all these new route combinations and yady yada.

This story ends with us being in 2 TE sets and running it between the tackles over and over again.

The first time Kellen tries something out of the box and it fails Garrett will rage and that is the last we'll see of it.

lol Garrett. Just happy Linehan isn't here.

Do we like Moore more than Richard, or Richard more than Moore right now? Richard, right?

And do we like Moore more than we hated Linehan yet? More than we hate Garrett? I know we like Richard just a little bit more than we hate Marinelli. That one is pretty clear. I think I have a hard time with the Moore one because just last season we hated him almost as much as we hated Linehan and, I think, slightly more than we hated Garrett, and definitely more than we hated Marinelli (we didn't really start hating Marinelli until we decided how much we loved Richard after he threw down with an opposing player in pre-game warmups, right?). So I have a hard time keeping them straight.

The good news is it's awesome to see how much better Kellen Moore got in just one season. If he keeps up on this pace, look out. Can you imagine what a two-headed monster a Richard-Moore HC would be by next season? It'd be a conjoined nightmare for anybody foolish enough to get on the field with us. We could just fire Garrett and Jerry and Stephen and let Will McClay find players for Richard-Moore and just kick *** for about a decade. That would be awesome.

And that’s the issue. Garret has never shown the propensity to change.

Man, and I thought I was a pessimist. I keed, I keed

While I'm am extremely happy we are not rolling with Linehan again, I'm not going to get too hyped until we can verify that Garrett let's Moore run the offense without training wheels.

I'm not even worried if Moore's offense is good or not, I just don't want to see a 3rd and Long where all 4 receivers go out on a route by running directly to a defender and turning around. If we don't do that, then that is a victory. Maybe a small victory, but a victory nonetheless.

Im fine with failing this year.

It's a win win if it gets rid of Garrett.

A mediocre season that gets Garrett a new contract is the worst thing that can happen.

We need to either be a title contender that advances deep in the playoffs or just let the wheels fall off and hire a new coach and hopefully get a top 10 draft pick.

its may lets wait and see what September brings before we put them all at number one offense

Jibber jabber. They bring a guy in to say what something's going to be like from this other guy we've never seen before. Freaking Colonel Trautman and Rambo syndrome. Any to keep the fan base coming back I guess.

It would be awesome if Kellen worked out for us. Would love to see him excel. Hold good thoughts.

:muttley:Let the glorious self delusion begin! We fans are fickle, no?

Didn't they say all this stuff last year?

I mean they say it every year...but definitely last year. It was what, 3 weeks before they abandoned the entire philosophy of rotating receivers around?

This is also completely ridiculous, even though I generally like Orlovsky:

“I think it’s going to be an offense that is like Sean Payton married with Matt Nagy married with Mike Leach. Like they all had a baby and that’s what this offense is going to be.

Also, Orlovsky said that Beasley is the best slot WR in football on Buffalo radio the other day.

"an offense that is like Sean Payton married with Matt Nagy married with Mike Leach. Like they all had a baby" I'm that baby's Papi!!!

Hahaha. Let's throw in some Andy Reid while we're at it. What a joke.
Yep.

Until I see it, it's all verbal diarrhea.

Jason Garrett still lives in the 1990's. I don't see him signing off on a modern offense. Especially with his neck on the line.
