Amen. I'm tired of being the only Witten defender here.

The naïve posters fail to realize the importance of a TE and his blocking skills in a run first offense.

Witten blocks much better then any of the skirts we had blocking at TE last year.

I think Witten is good for Dalton Shultz development.

The thing I'd like to see is Witten be used smartly...I still want to see Jarwin go off and attack the seam. Witten's route tree is limited.

Also, the first time #82 jumps offsides, sub him out...this team has able backup TEs now.

I'm more concerned about Witten's blocking and him getting the job done in that area... Coop, Gallup, Cobb can handle the receiving.

Last thing, why does some ppl think With is some kinda redzone threat? I don't recall him doing that much down there. More 214 will solve any redzone issues... don't complicate it.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I really don't understand why he was brought back. Mike Fisher and people like him keep saying he's the best tight end on the team.....I don't see how Jarwin or Schultz can't do what he does.
Technically, neither can do what he has done. He is a Hall of Famer for a reason.

That said, it does not mean he can do it now.

Witten is completely selfish for doing this. I get he is this generation's Mr. Cowboy, but this is like Bob Lilly coming back in 1976 and deciding he can do better than anyone else on the team.

Sometimes, you need to just step away.

Grrr. I know.

Why is that a problem for you?

Shultz and the other scrub TE were one of the big reasons the blocking was as bad as it was last year. Getting Witten back to block at the TE position and make first downs is key if your looking to have a shot to make it deep in the playoffs.

The Cowboys need to transition away from the 2 and 3 TE sets and go more with 3 WR's as it appears they will do with Moore.

This was a click-bait headline .. if you read the article, nowhere in it does Witten demand anything.

He simply said its his job to make it tough on the coaches to not play him, which is what every player's mindset should be.

I have said this many times over the years .. I believe every position should be open for competition constantly.

I don't care how well paid or what they've done in the past, no one should be above competition and the risk of being replaced by someone who is performing better.

It's really hard for me to care which TE they drag out there. I'd be happy if we did a lot of 10 and 20 (thinking Zeke and Pollard if you're curious) looks personally but what do I know.

Any good TE's coming in the draft next year? Yeah I know everyone wants a safety, just let me have this for right now.

Well with all due respect to him what he has done is irrelevant. If he wants to be here in a limited role like Antonio Gates was then I'm fine with that. But it seems like he's on the verge of handicapping this offense and I'm not sure if Garrett and co. have the balls to not allow him to.

I definitely don’t think Garrett has the balls. I’m just hoping Moore is sharper and smarter than that.

The concern about Witten has me feeling pretty good about our offense. If a Hall of Fame TE pushing Jarwin for the starting spot is the complaint this year, then we're doing great.

He's one of the best guys off the field in this organization's history. On the field he can find soft spots in zones and play the safety blanket as well as anyone. He's slowed down but Cooper, Gallup, Cobb, and Jarwin already give us down field options.

Witten was getting beat at blocking half the time his last 2 years. That's not including the many times he would go false start on many key 3rd & short plays, resulting in killed drives. Did you forget so soon or did you not realize it?

Schultz and Jarwin stink at blocking. Rico stunk at first until he started to understand his proper blocking assignments halfway through last season. On 1 play at the goal line where Dak ran in for a TD, Rico caved in the whole left side with a monster block. Rico also had several good blocks towards the end of the season. I guess you missed those?

Schultz and Jarwin stink at blocking. Rico stunk at first until he started understand his proper blocking assignments halfway through last season. On 1 play at the goal line, Dak ran in for a TD at ease around left tackle mostly due to Rico caving in the whole left side with a monster block. Rico also had several good blocks towards the end of the season. I guess you missed those?
I kind of thought that too, but not really. One of our trusted stat gurus recently posted his false starts.

In 16 and 17 combined he had 4 false starts.

3 of those were in 2016. And the fourth was week 2 of 2017.
