Exactly, whoever thinks we could have snuck Dak onto the practice squad is full of it and can't be serious.

Actually my bad...... remember thinking Romo was the starter ( his team ) and they had already named Moore as his backup. Also, for some reason I was thinking we only keep two QBs on active roster. Not to mention after seeng Dak preseason stats from another poster, it's highly possible he would have been elevated to Romo back-up. Just a lazy post on my part.........lol​

Didn't Cook play at the Senior Bowl JG coached? Maybe not I remember folks saying he had a lower ceiling, but was closer to NFL ready. Quite a few of our local roster/draft gurus wanted absolutely no part of him.

I often criticized him as well and laid some of the blame on him when not really knowing what the hell he did. Romo became one of the best D readers in the game, am I to believe Wade Wilson didn't have something to do with that?

I don't think many of us realize just how rough around the edges Romo was. Not only was he not on any draft boards, he was invited to the Combine to work out TE's, not even to get looked at himself. He was only on the radar of two coaches, Payton and Shanahan and only because they were fellow alum and even they didn't push to use a 7th round pick on him.

I go back to Parcells comments when the media was getting Romo fever, "just wait until they get enough film on him". That kind of ticked me off at the time as I thought "hell, you're his HC, can't you help him'?

Romo had quite a few teachers, Mike Lee, Testeverde, Payton but when he got Wilson, that's when he started to become the D reader that he became and that's when he became a good NFL QB.

Of course he helped Romo. And Dak, obviously as well. Nobody here is honestly ever in a position to speak with any authority regarding what a position coach does, anyway.

People judge off of the production of their position. And there no doubt bout what the Cowboys got out of a street FA and a late 4th round pick at the QB position over the twelve or so years Wilson was the QB coach here.

YEs,as I'm inclined in the belief of that angle of events as well,,,er,,, and while the whole intent of attendance in that celestial shin dig was to intentionally end up getting plowed under while drinking & good timing,,, I'm fairly certain that when the moment of clarity settled upon Dakota's shoulders of trained leadership & he'd attempted to diffuse a perceived& obviously volatile situation & got a boogered-up beauty blemish fer' his concerned endeavors,,, it was a stone cold suprise to him,,,I guarantee you, he'll never wade out chin deep in the back water morass of non salvageable river rough fish again,,,er,,, at least not without a 7' long 3 tined barbed gig pointing out in front,,,

But if someone shows you a rubber duck, then slaps you across the face with a rubber duck, then mentions that a rubber duck can be used to hit someone across the face, they shouldn’t have to inform you they hit you with a rubber duck for you to know that’s what happened.

see this is one reason i favor paying Dak now,our inability to scout QBs,even Dak was drafted as a backup.We have a long history of drafting duds and being associated with failed QBs for a long time since Romo emerged.

If only we could scout QBs like the Browns, Dolphins, Jets, Bears, Bucs, Niners, Commanders, and on and on and on.

I knew he was too. This thread is about a QB. The posts, in large part, on this thread are about QBs. Therefore, it is safe to think that the position implied in the post was........QB.
