They have TALENT....deserve TOP money......now Dak ....all aboard folks bus driver well there's always a very LOW guaranteed money with high incentives deal waiting....let's see how much of a bad-*** Dak agent is and how much of a fool GM Jerry might be....interesting stuff....
If I was riding in a bus, I would want the best bus driver money could buy....,.

I understand that logic, but he'll make more than Brady regardless. He shouldn't make more than Wilson or Ben at this point and I think Jerry can make that argument stick for now but not for long. As non-SB winners push that salary up (even past guys like Brees and Rodgers and Ben), Dak gets to be in that discussion. The one non-SB winner that will reset the whole dang thing is Pat Mahomes - and that's probably coming next off-season.
Didn’t mahomes stink it up in the playoffs last season. I could be wrong I will have to look at his stats. If his play don’t continue to be better them mahomes may not be getting as much as some think.

Well the Steelers won his 1st SB despite Ben being the QB, not because of it. Wilson also didn't start off as a premier QB. Albeit he was better than the QB they just hired.

If we advance one more game than last year then 37 will be his floor. And if another starting QB gets a contract it may push it higher. It’s all a game. But I don’t agree with him getting paid like a QB that won a SB. Assuming they will sign him for 32 or 33 million. Meeting in the middle. Maybe throw a bigger signing bonus or guaranteed money.

That just it, I'm not sure it matters anymore whether or not QB has won a Super Bowl with the way the QB contracts are now fluctuating. It appears as long as they show ability/skill set to consistently get their team to playoffs, they're getting top 3-5 pay, but only until next guys are up. IMO the QB market is now 100% control by the market with one criteria....teams seeing their guy as the long-term starter/ answer.

Wish they would cap QB pay. 40 million. If you can’t live on that then I don’t know what to tell you.

Outproduced him in total—including Wentz’ supposed “MVP” campaign season in the three year sample. We’re going into year four and Wentz still hasn’t caught him. How bad can Dak be trending down for that to be the case?

+1......especially for a player with arrows pointing upward. NO signs of regression at all.....[/QUOTE]

Soon will be 50. Aikman from 1989-2000 only made 55 million in his career.

What's kinda getting lost here is the owners and NFL are breaking the banks as well.......players are on for the ride. Just read a tweet earlier this week that NFL had 64 of the top 80 something watch shows last year.

As you can see by my sig, Im not a huge Dak fan. Let him make 34 million and then have a mediocre season and watch how quickly the love he has gotten as the Cowboys QB disappears. I want to be a Dak fan, Im rooting for him, but Im a Cowboys fans first and always will be. If he wins, and shows he is worthy of 34 mill per yeay, Ill love him. If he sucks or is avg at best and is making 34 million, I will hate him.

Didnt the Chiefs lose in OT? Mahomes and Dak are not even close to the same player. As a rookie Mahomes was simply unreal. Thats gonna be the guy that clearly will go over 40 million per year , if someone else doesnt beat him to it. BTW, when should Mahomes get a new deal? If he replicates last season performance this year, if I am him, Im sitting out until I get a new deal, I dont care what my contract is as he will have all the power. He sits, chiefs stink, and his people will know it.

Wait, why did Wentz set the *floor* on the Dak negotiation again?

Wentz arguably has not accomplished more than Dak has at this point and is a peer having been drafted the same year. Wilson set the bar because he's more accomplished than Prescott. Wentz set the floor because he's not.

I don't think at this point, though, that Prescott's side can successfully argue that he deserves to be paid more than the floor.

Players are getting paid based upon what teams think they WILL do. Face it, Wentz likely wins the MVP of the league 2 years ago had he not been injured, and then last year he was recovering still from a major injury. There is nothing that would lead the Eagles to believe that Wentz wont be that guy he was 2 years ago, and if he is, I doubt Dak ever reaches that level. Wentz was my fantasy QB, so I watched hi every game, and he was spectacular and actually had me depressed thinking this guy was going to be in the east for the next decade.

Only time will tell what they both do from here on out.

I don't care who's making what. It's what a huge price for the QB does to the rest of the team. There is a salary cap and paying one player $35 mil will most definitely affect the quality of the supporting cast!

Dak has led his team into the playoffs twice; Wentz has not. Wentz has been injured in two of his three seasons; Dak has not.

Management can argue what-ifs all they want, but Dak has facts on his side to say that he should be paid the same or more than Wentz.

Numberwise through three years, Wentz 63.7 completion percentage, 70 TDs, 28 ints. (2 rushing Tds) for 92.5 rating. Dak 661. 67 TDs, 25 ints. (18 rushing TDs), 96.0 rating.

Wentz might ultimately turn out to be the better player, but there's no way that Dallas' front office can argue that he's been the better player so far. That's why Wentz is the floor for negotiations.
