Report: Dak Prescott counteroffer higher than Carson Wentz deal

OK, so why pay him a massive contract, when you don't have to, if this coming year is when we will "truly know what we have in a QB".

And if it's not about the QB, then why are you willing to pay him an elite contract at this point?
I believe in getting deals done making people happy putting it to bed. That's me.

Look I don't care if they pay him or they don't pay him I'm not a mathematician every time people said this team was in cap hell we got out of it we weren't. I know his replacement isn't , out there because we are ready to win right now with this team

OK great. We are ready to win right now.

Again, none of that changes the fact that we don't have to pay him a big contract right now. But yet you are here arguing in this thread that we need to pay him now. So I am confused as to what your point actually is.

No offense, but that's a terrible way to do business.

I sure hope Jerry and Stephen aren't going to take one in the rear just to make Dak feel happy.

Because the position demands that amount. That doesn't mean the position deserves that amount.

I've been following this league for 60 plus years. If I learned anything change is inevitable. It won't hurt us either way if we pay him or we don't. That's the issue put it to bed

I actually think it's a great way to do business. That's how we won a Super Bowls in the 90s. Emmett tortured us we learned the lesson there

Again, you don't have to pay him now. That's the point. You keep acting like it has to be done right now. It doesn't.

I can't think of more than two franchises that got hurt signing bad quarterbacks to long-term contracts. Actually one. There are always teams willing to take the contract and the quarterback. But I don't think that's the case with Prescott I believe in him I guess that's the difference

And Smith's situation has really nothing to do with Dak's. Dak isn't going to sit out games like Emmitt.

I'm not acting like anything I don't care if they pay him now or later I'm just telling you what I would do.

Again speculation. I don't think he's going to sit out either. But I've learned one thing never say never. Who's going to replace him Cooper Rush LMAO

It has everything to do with what happens going forward. It's Lessons Learned. Does it mean the same situation is going to happen. Absolutely not. But it's still a lesson learned

I get it. These are all just our opinions. I am wondering if JJ and SJ aren’t setting on the yacht getting details worked out. Guaranteed and signing bonus stuff. Or maybe they will use what leverage they have and if he don’t come down then they gamble and let him play out the rookie deal and see. If we go to the championship or SB then they pay the going rate. And will be happy doing it.

Odds are we at least repeat last year with the talent we have. Then we have a QB that has won the division and went to the playoffs 3 out of his first 4 years. That’s pretty impressive for a QB in his rookie deal. Has there been another one that’s done that. I know it’s a team game and he has a great team around him.

Man that 2016 team was set. I often wonder how far we went if Romo was the QB..

I'm convinced that we don't know half of what's going on. I honestly believe that the ceiling for Dak right now is like 27 per. I honestly think that if he just signed a two year deal with a third year player option, if he played well, he could be looking at 33 to 35 per year for like 5 or 6 years. Maybe more if he has great years. Better deal for him to me but what do I know?

Different time. Emmitt held out in the early 90s. The new CBA makes it tougher on the players to hold out and will cost them in the pocket. And Dak would do himself no favors holding out. The Cowboys would simply then tag him in 2020 and then what's he going to do? Sit out again in 2020?

Will if we go with Rush or White as a starter instead of Dak. Good luck with that.

What lesson? It's very unlikely Dak would hold out. In fact, if he was going to hold out, you'd probably hear squawking from his camp. We've heard nothing and he's shown up for OTAs and expected to be at mandatory practices.

Yeah I know that. LOL it was still a lesson there that's the point you're not comprehending I think.

The lesson. If you have a superstar you don't mess with him that's the lesson. And unreplaceable Superstar. Yes I think Prescott is that good. And we haven't seen the best of him yet
