This game is interesting to watch, it is the 1st NFC Championship Dallas ever won.
This was the year Tom took over play calling at mid season and they also started a winning streak at that point.
I dont think Tom was a great play caller, what he did was just not call many pass plays, most of which were
screens, and that cut out int's.
Dallas had such a great defense, at the start of this game they say Dallas has not allowed a TD in 21 qtr's !!
they went 2 more in this game so 23 without allowing a td!
With that type of defense Dallas did not rely too much on the offense, to win, just mainly dont turn it over
and score a few points.
The same defense only allowed 1 TD in the baltimore SB game, and they still lost.
And that one TD was controversial.
Duane Thomas had around 135 yds in this game.
Landry showed some emotion at the end of game on sideline, and in locker room said something interesting.
It is full game and has commercials , some of which are funny.

I will say this , after seeing this game , I can see where SF fans might dislike the Cowboys, which made the catch win very sweet a few years later.

Thanks.
It's crazy that the 1970 Cowboy running game is more creative than today!!! Just WOW

The impressive turn around in that season after losing our inaugural MNF contest to the Stl Cardinals 38-0. We didn’t lose another game until the SB,

Thanks, I saved the link to you tube. I will download it and keep it. I been downloading past games as I get around to them.
yeah I do the same, only have a few 90 and 91 games.
Didnt you say you had them all on vhs? If so you can buy a simple device to connect vcr to computer and make a digital recording of them.
better to do it while the vcr still works.
Then you could up them to youtube ! and I could dl them !.
I have most of 92 and then about half of 93 , also 1st SB is there, but not 2nd buffalo SB.

Thanks.

yeah plus they ran more period , stacking the box didnt matter, they just threw screens and ran different ways.
But the key was still the defense, then they wear a team down with the run game.

Yes I have a device that hooks into my computer from my VCR and converts them.
I have most of the wins and all the playoff games and SB's from the 90's.
I always plan to convert them. I have some highlight stuff converted. Just never seem to get around to the games yet. I guess I need to get to it. LOL

Why anyone traded their number 1 pick to the Cowboys for Morton shows the other team was led by idiots.

I will make a list of what is on youtube, and then you could see which ones are needed.

That 1970 defense was made up of mostly the original “Doomsday” defense. Most young Cowboys never got see the most dominating defense in franchise history. The early implementation of the “Flex” defense was nearly impossible to run on effectively.

If memory serves me, the Cowboys had beaten the Detroit Lions the week before in a divisional playoff game 5-0 at the Cotton Bowl. No TDs scored. The Cowboys offense was very conservative probably because they had th best D in the NFL at that time.

Morton tore a tendon in his shoulder/arm earlier in the year and couldn’t throw at all. I think only completed about 40% of his passes that year despite now throwing ver far. Why Landry didn’t replace him with Roger that year nobody knows. It’s why he did in’71.

Interesting side note Roger was only Cowboy not to play in Super Bowl V.

But was MVP of Super Bowl VI! What could have been.

I remember that game. Even as a teenager, I was mad at Landry for sticking with Morton. What was even worse was the Superbowl where Morton had a splint on his finger on his passing hand and Landry stuck with Morton. He couldn't pass the ball when he was healthy and here he was starting QB in the Superbowl...with Roger on the bench.
