I dunno Crazy, I look at your avatar and think you might need to purchase a couple of more clues.Speechless. Damn dude. How many chances do you need? I screwed up a lot at his age but eventually bought a clue.
My feeling on this incident is that he most likely wont be sentenced to jail time for public intoxication. I could be wrong.exactly...compassion without bending the law is fine by me. FIRST...he has to pay whatever debt to society he must on this incident, then thats when the compassion comes in...ie the treatment and life coach. He doesn't deserve compassion FIRST..that comes later. Sometimes its earned.. its not just given.
It’s usually more difficult then that. Your demons don’t go away because you got away with it the first time.I thought maybe since he got drunk and had a accident that killed his friend that he would quit drinking, and JJ actually gave him a job...
Having compassion for one does not mean you can't or don't have compassion for the other. So, second, third and fourth chances for players like Brent so people can feel compassionate?
Where is the everyday compassion for those who are far worse off and never even got the benefit of a second chance?
I would hope this means some sort of violation of his probation. My feeling on this incident is that he most likely wont be sentenced to jail time for public intoxication. I could be wrong.
I'm not even sure I would say he got away with it the first time. This accident and death wasnt a bank robbery. No punishment given to me could hurt me more than knowing that I contributed to the death of my friend. That emotional scar could never heal. That is something you carry for the rest of your life. It’s usually more difficult then that. Your demons don’t go away because you got away with it the first time.
Yes and while we get pissed about him killing his best friend, like a brother according to Brown's Mom, that could very well be the root of his problem. Some seem to feel he got off easily, I don't think so. How does anyone get off easily from something like that?Having compassion for one does not mean you can't or don't have compassion for the other.
It's not an either/or scenario.
People believe in compassion for others who have addictions, diseases or overall weaknesses that contribute to these self destructive incidents. There is no victim in this case other than himself. This is a sad case.
Unless there was some sort of drug testing involved with his probation or his job, he was free to substitute weed for alcohol all along. I don't think he was using alcohol to manage pain.
weak minded losers. But it is a disease, don't you get it?
That means personal accountability means zero, I guess.
Josh is the victim. He and the cowboys are the victim. He messed up. So yes, there should be a price to pay for it. Its how life works in reality. My feeling on this incident is that he most likely wont be sentenced to jail time for public intoxication. I could be wrong.
The law is built in a way to punish first and if you have enough money then treatment gets to be an option. Most who look at the laws and our legal system would agree that criminal justice reform is badly needed in the US.
Do you feel a debt to society is warranted for this incident?
I feel that for there to be a debt to society there has to be a victim. Who is the victim in this case? Cases like this should be handled as treatment and not punishment.
agree with you. I say that because then I think that's when they will mandate he gets help. Otherwise, I don't think he will seek help. Its a good thing if he gets a probation violation.I would hope this means some sort of violation of his probation.
It is not often somebody kills someone driving drunk, then gets a pass after being arrested for public intoxication.
If they had these tazers pre millennial times how many people do you think wouldn't have been shot? This is one of the most ignorant statements I've seen on this board. When did resisting arrest come into fashion?
There is only a very fine line between being tazed and being shot. The millennials will have to learn the hard way.
What should the price be for someone who only hurt themselves?Josh is the victim. He and the cowboys are the victim. He messed up. So yes, there should be a price to pay for it. Its how life works in reality.
its not up to me or the cops. Its up to the interpretation and law statutes. I really don't know what should be done. Point is, harm of anykind shouldn't be allowed to take place. Its inhumane to let him harm himself..so they did the right thing. Now its up to the courts. Maybe now he can get help. I see this as a positive for him. What should the price be for someone who only hurt themselves?
Life works this way isn't really an argument.
You may have more details than I do on this incident. Were their reports of him assaulting anyone or anything mischievous?
I only read he was drunk in public and he didnt respond to the police officers in the best way.
Public intoxication is something that most people have been guilty of. If guilty is even the right word for something like this. Its one of those laws that rank right up there with public urination when you are in the middle of a 10 mile traffic jam, your iced coffee is kicking in, and you decide its either pee yourself, or run over to the trees next to the highway and relieve yourself. A law that has no place on the books. Zeke and Dak could both be charged with public intoxication when they have been seen in the clubs having a good time.
If you think public intoxication shouldn't be illegal you have a problem. This guy is a danger when he's drunk to himself and the public. He obviously doesn't care. What should the price be for someone who only hurt themselves?
