If and when it's proven that McDowell has it, it might explain his actions. But not before.

Disgustingly so.

I think you should probably do more research before you refer to their jobs as "a privilege".
What I said was being a police officer SHOULD be a privilege. It is a honor to serve and protect civilians and that's how it should be viewed. Its a honor to be a teacher as well. But the problem with these two professions is that people don't see it as such. People don't see it as a honor to teach our youth. Its why you have disgusting people in both fields. Anyone can be hired to do those professions.

And the quality of candidates is directly related to the quality of the pay. That's the point. Anyone who expects to get quality candidates at garbage pay rates is an idiot, and deserves the poor results they get.

We've managed to take arguably the two most important jobs in the country and undermine both.

I think its deeper than that. For instance let's say you are a guy who hates a certain group of people. Are you not going to police them different than you would people that you like or that look like you? I believe it all needs a overhaul. I believe being a officer should be a privilege. Not everyone is meant to be a police officer. I feel the way same way about teachers and other occupation too.
Based on what I was told it is more of the training but of course there are cops out there liked you explained.

If you started actually hiring quality people and not just anyone off the street then I'm sure increase in pay would be a option. But when you hire any and everyone you get what you get. And I'm not against a increase in pay. But I also don't know what is actually realistic to pay police and teachers.

No, you have it backwards. When you pay more, you get better candidates and can be more selective. But when you continue to cut the pay for a job - which this country has - your pool of quality candidates shrinks. Quality candidates are going to line up for your job an the hope that somehow the pay will magically increase.

People are just fine when a school bus driver gets paid peanuts while driving their kids to and from school. And then they're somehow shocked that that person isn't qualified or has undocumented issues and something bad happens.

And I'm not against a increase in pay.

I'm very glad to hear that. It's a shame how these two vitals jobs are overworked, underpaid, and under appreciated

But I also don't know what is actually realistic to pay police and teachers.

More than they're getting.

You should see the pay people make working in residential treatment facilities for troubled kids. And then wonder why our mental health system has such poor outcomes.

Yeah, I've also seen the numbers on how that form of care (mental health) has been cut to virtually nothing as well. And then we wonder why bad things happen?

He asked for his supervisor and by law he has that right.
He can but he doesn't have the right to get out from his vehicle when I stricter not to. Not go I to the store. Nor attack the officer. Five wrongs don't make a right. He can press charges after he obeys the officer's instructions. The officer told him there was no one to elevate to. He was the supervisor at that moment. If the officer was lying he can argue that later. What he can't do and that makes him immediately in the wrong is what you watched in the video.

I'm not of the belief he was right in what he did. It was actually stupid and I hope it was mental issues and not entitlement that caused him to act like that. There are too many people getting gunned down by police officers for you to be a aggressor. Definitely don't agree with that at all.

I'm glad to hear we agree on that point.

Everyone is not able to comply with police though. Some people may be on drugs....some may have mental issues. I personally don't think the answer should warrant your life if you have mental issues and can't comply.
. In a perfect world yes. But I would much rather ensure the police officers safety and life versus someone with mental illness if that suspect can't comply and is aggressive. That might be harsh and an opinion not all share.

Ehh....I mean I would like no one to die in that situation. We need both parties to get out of the situation ok. And this cop attempted to do that. A guy that size I'm really shocked he didn't shoot him. He used his taser.

Comparing the good guys to terrorists, the mafia, and genocidal maniacs, yeah that makes sense. We can judge those guys because what they are is barbaric. Police and military are by and large good people that sacrifice themselves. They are not perfect and there are bad eggs like any large group but most are trying to the right thing while laying it on the line. Especially today with all the violence present. Problem is people are too self absorbed to appreciate that sacrifice and everyone is an expert today. Surprised you would try to make this comparison because it isn’t even close. Shame on you.
What a load garbage. The cops don't sacrifice anything. They get paid to extort and harass people. They aren't there to serve and protect as has been verified by the supreme court. They will point a gun at you for violation of any statute no matter if it's immoral or unconstitutional. They are there to generate revenue and keep the privatized prisons full.

He has brain damage from a 4 wheeler accident, has never played an NFL snap, Seattle Drs wouldn't ever clear him and he was just arrested for DUI and resisting arrest. How would he be a good pickup?
I think he meant he drives a nice pickup..... lol.

agreed. both people in all circumstances is the ideal, i think everyone agrees with that point.

but if there is confrontation, it's the cop for me over the mental person and it isn't even close. i'm not willing to risk a police officer's life for someone else who is either has a mental condition or who is committing a crime. This officer went above and beyond considering the circumstances and the position he was in.

Just an example. In the county I live in. Early intervention services for children with intellectual disabilities. Yes children with intellectual disabilities, didn’t receive rate increases for 20 years. Just earlier this month they agreed to raise rates for the first time in TWO DECADES.

But hey, it’s just services for children with intellectual disabilities

There are nearly a million LEOs and 3 or 4 million teachers. :laugh:at the notion that either job can be or should be high paying.

Most teachers and leos pay is close to median household income, if not greater. In fact, average teacher pay is significantly higher than median household income, nationwide. So this high horse of teachers not being paid enough has about as much credibility as Jerry Jones draft record the last 25 years.

What are you yammering on about? I usually like your posts and agree with you 99% of the time. This though? I don't know what to say. You are either trolling (which is hysterical if it is) or you are off your rocker. If this is serious you need help.
