An argument can be made Jerry Jones self-determined Prescott’s franchise quarterback status as early as third month of the rookie season. The current contract negotiation is simply a formality Jones had committed to making come true since that time. Prescott will get paid. The only question is how far the contract will blow off socks.
Yep

He’s been All In since he kicked Romo to the curb.

I was hoping Stephen would be tough on this one. Otherwise his words were meaningless.
You don't know what the deal will be. But no doubt it will be a big one.. no way of getting around it. The key will be structure.

"I want to see Zeke the highest paid. I want to see Amari the highest paid. I want to see myself up there"

People are going to have a fit around here reading this.

It’s tough avoiding at this point in the 11th hour without any other viable options but I think we could have placed ourselves in a less vulnerable situation.

Elucidate. The only option is another qb. They're in short supply. Complaints without answers are for teenagers. Cacophonous noise.

It’s up to everyone to decipher the noise in these forums. As a fan and critic I’m not obliged to come up with solutions.

I don’t need to know how to diagnose a car to know it needs service or know how to run a restaurant to know it was poor service or product.

We can see there are issues and concerns with a football team without knowing how to fix it.

But in this case I’d suggest we shouldn’t have been All In from the onset especially after 2017. I’ll admit after 2016 it was looking more promising but we shouldn’t ever be so dug in we aren’t able to redirect. We had other options but chose not to use them. That’s how I see it and will express as such.

And as usual when some don’t agree with opposing opinions they become frustrated and fall victim to attacking the messenger with insults attempting to discredit since they don’t like message.. which is juvenile.

This is an interesting quote from somebody who throws around the term “Dak slobberer” on a pretty frequent basis.

bahahahahahhahhahhahahha.... Dak Saved Jerry? bahahaahahahhah
so you think the Cowboys wont be on tv if they are winning? in 2015 we stunk, go look at the top 10 highest rated games in the NFL that season and see how many were the pathetic Cowboys with HS QBs throwing passes. You think if the Cowboys had a bad qb they would all of the sudden go bankrupt?
Cmon... be real. Jerry and the Cowboys are gonna make money till the end of time..... no matter who is playing QB.

Yes, but Dak in the media is good for the Cowboys. He's one of the most overexposed players in the NFL right now, and every 3rd commercial has his face on it, and his stories about being a doubted player but rose up through the ashes keeps the newer NFL viewers interested in the Cowboys. Not sure exactly how much more money we make becuase of him though - I guess that's hard to quantify.

Referring to a group is within the rules as I understand . I’ve never been warned or corrected as I carefully try not call it out directly or single out an individual. And I can’t take credit for the Slur. It’s one I’ve seen used by others but in some cases feel it’s fitting and effective.

“ Slobbering Dak fans”, “Haters”, “Homers” for example is describing a general group not a direct insult ,attack or a personal attempt as appeared in this particular case to discredit a member because they didn’t like their message which is more of a violation of the rules as I interpret them.

But I can imagine someone who uses Dak in their screen name and pic in avatar might take the group slur more personal.

Yep

And only Brady sold more jerseys last year I believe. Truly a very popular player in the NFL and Cowboys for the amount of success and talent level.

Another great example in our culture how the most popular often out sells the more quality products. The Cowboys brand often illustrates American ingenuity at its best and Jerry Jone$ has pimped the brand optimizing its exposure.

I would love for the players to bet on themselves. Have more incentives into their contract If they truly believe that they are worth it. QB throws for XX amount of yards, TD'S and Completion percentages. Win the division, Win a playoff game Win their AFC/NFC championship title. Win the SB. If they do that then they have proven they are worth being the highest paid at their position.
Look at Cousins he got the first guarantee money and IMO he wasnt worth that. Teams pay out great contracts because they really have to. I cant blame Dak for wanting his but He along with the Kirk Cousins of the league need to prove they are worth it.
I know Dak is going to get his its just the nature of this game.

In other words, he's basically trying to justify why he shouldn't or doesn't have to take a team friendly deal to try to keep the band all together.

And note, I don't fault him for wanting every penny he can get. But the reality is, this team is going to have to make some tough choices on contracts coming up if they pay Dak what he wants.
How much money do you think the Cowboys offered Dak? Would Dak really turn down 28 million a year.

That’s the thing. We really don’t know if or what he’s been offered.

I agree. Tough to believe he’d turn down 28 million for example. I understand we have to pay our QB but if you look at where he ranks amongst NFL QB’s it’s difficult to rank him higher than near the middle of the pack which would mean in the 20’s million a year range.

I’d be real curious to see what he’d get in the open market . My hunch it’d be no more if not less than what a Foles fetched. Im not sure Prescott’s skill sets fits everyone’s offense or is as attractive overall to everyone else as it is to us.

Got it. So since you’re directing it to a group, and since you didn’t make up the term. It’s not you insulting anyone....

You do realize those are really poor excuses and deflecting of blame right? Don’t take this as an insult, but I would expect a more mature answer from somebody your age.

Meanwhile, that term you like to throw around, is for the purpose of doing EXACTLY what you complained about in the post I quoted. Which is using a personal insult, to attack people and be dismissive of them, because you don’t like their opinion about the QB. Because of course, you must be a slobberer if you like the QB and think he is a good player. It’s a clear and obvious attempt to discredit highly positive opinions about Dak. But here you are complaining about somebody else doing the same thing you’ve been doing on multiple
Threads. So go ahead and play victim to somebody else saying something you perceived as insulting.

If it's true that the new CBA will probably pay Pat Mahomes between $50-60 million, then paying Dak $35 now might be smart.

The problem is, if you only give him a 3-year deal, you might have to pay $50 million for him later anyway just to keep the status quo if he doesn't mature into an elite player.

It's a tricky situation.

This is why the nfl needs to consider applying caps to individual contracts
