I'm a huge fan of Elliott on the field. But, holding out when you have a contract for two more years and you've seemed to have off the field issues pop up every year, I'm not sure what I do. Let him hold out and see if you have something in your 3rd round back? That's a bad plan, probably. I'm just not sure I'm all in right this minute.

Edited to add...no source for this rumor of course.

I'll believe it when I see it.

The sky might be falling or it might not.

Chargers running back Melvin Gordon isn't being coy about his intent to hold out until he gets a new deal. Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott apparently is, at least for now. Per a league s...

I noticed nowhere in this article did this "insider" ever quote Elliott as saying this. For all we know this is nothing more than this "insider" speculating and thus getting people to click on his article padding his wallet. I wish I had a dollar for every "insider" that said something that turned out to be bogus.

I'll believe he's going to hold out when I see it.

But if he's does, I'm fine with letting him. He's under contract for two more years.

He has very little leverage.

But until I see something like this happen, I'm sure not going to get worked up about it.

He has a lot of leverage .

Dallas will take a holdout very serious .

It’s best to pay him. It doesn’t make sense to risk a holdout over it. He’s due the money.

He should try to get money now. I don't blame him. But I don't pay him if I'm the Cowboys.

Would you risk your career if you were being underpaid Millions?

Zeke gets hurt in camp and he loses $$$.

This is simple to figure out.

He's not underpaid. He's on a rookie contract, so he is paid exactly what he's supposed to be paid.
that could be said about EVERY PLAYER who wants and early new contract..not many that turn into super stars go to the the final year.yes he has two years left shouldnt hold out,, maybe rumor but if anyone on this team deserved a early re-up it Zeke hes the workhorse who is not injury prone..

Do you guys honestly believe this? Look at Florio all summer he’s been preaching the same thing, I’m an avid PFT watcher and reader so I’ve seen it.

Florio ever since the season ended has been begging Zeke to hold-out. Even when Zeke said he wouldn’t hold out, Florio was pissed and made a whole 20-min segment on why Elliott should hold out.

Zeke has said himself he’s showing up, Jerry has stuck his neck out for him multiple times, AND he signed his 5th year option. This is fake news if I’ve ever seen it.

Florio at his best. He wants Zeke to holdout so bad. Florio has been hinting at this since last year. Zeke should holdout. He is the best player on the team. The optics look bad though because of the trouble he was getting into.
Yes! Thank you lol if you keep up with PFT you’ve seen this propaganda for months.

It has some truth to it .

Camp is starting soon.

Zeke and his money is not right.

He’s an elite RB making 3.8 mill this season.

This has holdout written all over it.

It’s an easy bet.

No he isn't. He's been paid exactly what he's supposed to be paid to this point, that of the 4th overall pick in the draft.

And it's most certainly not "best to pay him". You start that cycle and everybody starts marching up for more money, no matter how many years they have left on their deals.

On top of it, the kid screwed up. And he showed once again that he's a risky investment and not someone you want your entire franchise depending on to stay out of trouble.

Well Zeke himself said there will be no hold out. You think Florio is privy to something the FO isn’t? Zekes camp let Florio know but not any DC press?

If you think Zeke going 100% against his word after the organization has stood by him to this point you’re really reaching. Nothing Zeke has said or done point to a hold out, in fact it’s the exact opposite.

Just because the timing makes sense doesn’t mean that will trump all of the facts.

It’s not fair to the owner, but when Zeke won 2 rushing titles, it gave him leverage .

Have no time for whining players who are under contract.....Lev'eon Bell held out all year last year, where did that get him, he lost his starting job with the Steelers and now with the horrible Jets after not getting the deal he was looking for..

Don't think so, the leader of the team holding out hasn't happened yet for a good reason.

Gordon has more extent because he's only got one year left. Any team acquiescing to a player holding out with two years left is establishing a precedent that will bite them in the butt with other players.
He’s also 26

I think, at some point, the NFLPA is going to have to do something, because this hold out thing is getting ridiculous. Yes, Zeke is underpaid, but that's a flaw with the CBA and will exist, forever, if there is a rookie wage scale.

The rookie pay scale was put in because there were to many payers coming out of college that were getting huge contracts that hadn't played a down in the NFL and some to many never played up to those huge contracts. The scale was put in as a prove it time. If he thinks he was underpaid now and hasn't saved a lot of his earning thus far he'll feel the pinch with no paychecks coming in while he sits out. Now if he finally reports by week 10 all he gets is his final 6 weeks of pay. If he has a clause for a bonus for making the All Star or Pro Bowl and/or leading the league again he won't get that money either. Not to mention the fans who know he has a problem staying out of trouble who is then hurting their team. The one star who sat out an entire season so he could get free later said after he retired that the money he lost he never recouped and if he could do it again he wouldn't, John Riggins.

Did you have a problem with Emmitt holding out despite being under contract? He held out for a new contract into the season, but he produced, helped win championships, and we forgave him.

Pay Dak.
Pay Cooper.
Pay Zeke.

Pay them now while you can. You just finally built a defense and a top receiving corps....it would be foolish to lose your stud RB.
