I think, at some point, the NFLPA is going to have to do something, because this hold out thing is getting ridiculous. Yes, Zeke is underpaid, but that's a flaw with the CBA and will exist, forever, if there is a rookie wage scale.

Zeke has not only clearly outperformed his existing contract but leading the entire NFL in rushing 2 out of last 3 years , he's set the standard and level for RBs in the NFL this is kind of business in nothing in the NFL.
And he is the lead cog in our offense. We ride his back and he is the leading key to our current success on offense.

I had no doubt that he would eventually get his share due of being highest paid rb in NFL, it was just gonna be a matter of "WHEN' would that happen, .....HOW' much would cowboys set the record breaking dollar amount..and what "possibility " could there be in a certain structure or clause that could protect the cowboys should there be any future unfortunate off field incidents that results in possible suspensions

Can’t argue with the clueless. Enjoy your day.

No, you just got destroyed with facts by an all-pro, HOF WR who himself admitted he made a mistake about Dez and now your trying to save face.

Rookie contracts, by definition, underpay players, relative to the market. The NFLPA wanted it because it's run by veterans and allows them to get a bigger piece of the pie. The Owners want it because it gives them cost control over players.

The only say rookies have is holding out - and Zeke is right to do it, as is Melvin Gordon, to a lesser extent. We're going to start seeing this with quarterbacks sooner than later.
I think part of the reason, is so owners dont have to or get stuck with overpaying draft busts, especially 1st round picks.
These guys used to get big contracts from the start and if they were a bust, then owners were stuck with that.

This way they get to try a player out, but to me the rookie contracts should only be for 2 years, because many play for peanuts for too long.
Elliot is not one of those, being a # 3 pick, he has been well paid for a rookie, one of the highest paid rookies in the nfl from that draft year.

And with his suspension and drama, and lackluster playoff performances, and out of shape in 2017, he does not deserve a new contract
at this point in time.
Also he knows the cowboys are trying to figure out who to pay or not pay, since they have a bunch of guys that want their payday, like dak, and
really dak needs to be paid 1st, because if dak doesn't play having Elliot is meaningless.

They barely ask him to lift a finger in camp anyway. This is fine.

I don’t know if he is really thinking this but I don’t think he would miss a game not sure if he can afford to miss much of TC and preseason especially with whatever is going on in Vegas. If I’m the Cowboys I say ok go for it we will start the fines on day 1. I see no point in paying him now. The rookie deal works both ways right now I’d say Taco is over paid and EE is under paid but they will get what they deserve when the rookie deals are over. Any of y’all saying pay the man must be EE fans and not Cowboys fans because paying him would take away cap they are using for other players I always want what is best for the Cowboys not the players.

This could be playing out perfect! Now were gonna get to see how much Dak is really worth without his elite RB. Zeke is worth 17 mil a year for 5 years and that's peanuts just pay him. They get plenty of room in the salary cap.

Sam Bradford got $72 million right out of college. Veterans squawked and complained, and it was changed. The next year, Cam Newton got $21 million.

I do think it's kind of crappy for running backs because they're ready to be at their best immediately, whereas other positions usually take time.

And BTW, talks have been open and communication happening between the Zeke camp and the FO, Per reports and Dallas is interested in negotiating an extension, probably trying to get a discount before they even hand a chance at hitting the market. In fact Stephen Jones has indicated the policy as such regarding their players, meaning just because he’s on a rookie contract, didn’t mean he needs to shut-up and play while the FO basically said it’s per their policy anyways.
SJ said he was going to be paying Elliot a big contract. Elliot just wants to speed it up a bit.

While I have totally turned on my opinion on the Jones family intentions in doing what it takes to field. SB-contending team, this is one issue where I am pretty confident they aren’t that stupid. The reality is they know the impact of Zeke, which is why they sit him to end the season, not risking at injury, while at the same time, playing Dak, knowing fully well he needs to practice to, in their hopes, develop more.

any rookie deal that has a player that plays at a pro bowl deal is "Underpaid." BUT, that is exacty what the PLAYERS wanted to happen back when rookie deals were put in place after that Rookie waste of a QB out of LSU signed that huge deal. So Zeke can just be pissed at the NFLPA that did this deal.

Until it gets changed, if iM the cowboys I tell zeke to suck and egg. Holdout all you want.... and you get fined a full game check for every preseason game you miss. Cowboys hold all the cards, and my guess is Zeke doesnt gain much in the form of fans sympathy. He has been a headache too many times to be another headache headintg into what could essentially be a perfect off season heading into camp. Go ahead Zeke, ruin that.

Exactly. Veteran Players figured this part out. Owners didn't do this. Once the pie was agreed upon, it became a player thing how players were going to get paid. Vets didn't want young kids, fresh out of College making all of the scratch. They wanted vets who had time in to make the majority of the money. I mean, this is a player thing. Complain about the players if you don't like how this works because it's their deal. Why in the world would the Owners give in to this kind of thing when it wasn't there decision as to who got paid what?

Zeke deserves nothing more then what he already signed for. This entire thing is just getting ridiculous.

Elite running backs are more trouble then they are worth. Gurley's contract is a dumpster fire. Bell? Yuck on that guy. By my watch Lynch and Lewis are the only elite backs to win a SB in the last 20 years. That position yields, by far, the worst value of second contracts in the league. The biggest issue in Dallas is that the HC and Donkey Owner could not deliver a SB during Dak and Zeke's rookie contracts. Zeke is potentially going to be a big problem.

I think they are getting better and smarter and perhaps taking advise from other professionals. The drafting has gotten better. And they sit Elliot at the end of seasons and Elliot didn’t play a snap of preseason last year. Not sure about 2017.

Doesn't matter. Players and their agents don't care about that - and they know that teams have pressure to pay their top players. SD can let Gordon walk because he's a replaceable talent. Zeke, in Dallas' offense, isn't. He knows that, his agent knows that, and the Joneses know that. Think Jerry doesn't remember the start of 1993?

This is why I said the NFLPA should step in.
EE is no E.Smith, and you cant compare now to 1993 , things were vastly different back then.

I noticed nowhere in this article did this "insider" ever quote Elliott as saying this. For all we know this is nothing more than this "insider" speculating and thus getting people to click on his article padding his wallet. I wish I had a dollar for every "insider" that said something that turned out to be bogus.
.
Well E has to have seen the article by now, so lets see if he comments on it ?

Could be a Double edged sword for Zeke. Not saying Pollard or the other new back will be as good but if they come in and have good camps, etc.. Zeke might want to get back on the field if he holds out. Everyone is potentially replaceable behind the O-line we have when healthy..Just never know.
