Like some other posters, gonna go with Aaron Donald. IMO, Donald would likely have the biggest immediate impact on our team.

This popped up and thought it was a good topic. The player that comes to mind for me is very obvious but not pictured above. And he would weaken a NFC contender

Thoughts?

Derwin James. I think he is exactly what we need in the secondary. A strong safety that controls the box and has the range to play single high. A definite cornerstone DB

Sidenote: Its a real testament to how good LVE is that no one laments not trading up for James. If we drafted Taco Charlton that year, we would probably get at least one" Why didnt we trade up for James" thread a week

Derwin James
Long term?

This is a really good answer
When you factor in everything, the fact that he came in playing at an all pro level, he is on an cheap rookie deal for the next 3 years ( and being a mid first his option year wont be top 5 money), and our need at the position, then I believe James is a great awnser

You cannot win in this league without middle pressure. Make no mistake about that. Patriots prove that destroyed Mahomes with middle pressure. We finally have a defensive tackle with rotation. I can't wait for this year's football

To make the greatest impact, it would have to be a player that plays a position where we are not already getting great performance. That means I won't be stealing a LB'er or RB. I see the Dak haters here in full force but disagree with them. I would not steal a QB. I think this team is underserved at the safety positions so that's where I would target a steal from another team.

I understand your theory. But for me you could never pass on Aaron Donald. I would trade my other defensive tackle for that other position of need you're talking about

That ignores the problem we have at our safety positions to upgrade a position that we already have at least average to slightly better than average performance.

What part of "(NOT A QB)" was illegible? :muttley:

Most fan bases in the NFL would say Mahomes, otherwise.
few of us (haha, me included) just glanced and read the title......I think partly because when we all think of potential replacing, Dak comes to mind first and foremost...

Says no QB right there. And Dak is far from the weakest link
well, is it about the weakest link? or the one that would have the most impact? on the surface you might say, the weakest link is safety...but improving the TE position might have the biggest impact.

If you stop and think about this question, you start to understand how few true stars there are in this league as opposed to prior years. There aren’t many players in this league that are head and shoulders above everyone else.

I think I’d go with Zack Ertz, because a tight end like that would complete this offense. Aaron Donald is the other obvious choice.

This isn't about stealing the best player, it's about filling the weakest link to make the greatest difference. We already have an imposing pass rush, so I don't think Aaron Donald would make the greatest impact my steeling one player. I think that would be accomplished by targeting a safety where we are greatly underserved.
