Well, I know next to nothing about this guy but I'm hoping he works out better than he did in Seattle. Suffice it to say, this offense desperately needs a backup QB to be successful. Best of luck to him and/or anyone else who might qualify as a capable backup. At least, the FO is beating the bushes for a legitimately decent backup. Here's hoping they'll manage to find one. And yeah, a capable vet would be a godsend! ;)
Let's wait& see how our current potential career. garrettesque type guys we've available on the roster shake out in preseason games before an elavated concern of lack Set's in,as the seemingly degenerative skills of Cooper Rush , really is kinda' indicative of a "varsity/ j.v. athletic atmosphere " in where the Jr. Underlings are viewed, treated& trained as such, as I've always picked up on the vibe of a COACH GARRETT pecking order, being readily apparent,,, & with John Kitna having his credentialed signature at the top of his Q.B. corps ,there might be a much more invigorated electric vibe emanating this seasons camp,ya know?

Yeah, you never know!! Mike White and/or Cooper Rush might be required to make a quantum leap in their development to carry the torch in the event something unfortunate happens to Dak this year. Outside of that, a vet who gets cut at the final cuts is always possible, although unlikely. Taryn Christian, anyone? :D

:laugh::facepalm:
This should put to rest any thoughts that we actually intend to bring in a competent back up QB
I tony didnt get hurt in 2016, Dak would still be on the bench, not thrown any passes, and so many on here would be saying we have no competent backup qb. We dont know what we have at backup, but bottom line is if the starter goes down, most teams are done. Thats just the way it is.

What about the guy other than you just heard of his existence today, makes you believe he's in contention for the starting QB spot?

Im not real smart, but I could tell his comment was laced with sarcasm.

White or Rush never looked as good as Dak did his rookie preseason game. In fact if Romo had not got hurt we would be talking about forcing Romo into retirement to get Dak on the field. Dak was such a beast though that he did that as a rookie 4th round pick.
Cooper was awesome in his time in the games.. what were you watching?

So,bro? As pertaining to that "vet q.b. getting post TC cut loose by other franchises" ,,,er,,,are you talkin' Vinnie Testavede caliber of VETERAN ,,,er,,,or,,, are you hintingly angling along the Brandon Weeden lines of thought? As it's my personal view our current guys gotta' Man the Hell out in that which is of their thus far acclaimed professions position:starspin:

Cooper and White never looked as good as Dak did as a rookie did in preseason.......this is either true or it is not. No one has ever thought that one day....Cooper and White could be starters in the NFL and from day one everyone from fans to HoFers thought Dak could......this is either true or it is not.

Except we have no idea where White is. If Dak was still 3rd string we'd be saying can't be worse than Rush and Dak.
Yea.... But we’re not!!!! And we have an idea of where White is. In a competition for 2nd or 3rd string quarterback.

Neither did Romo or a lot of QBs. There is a reason definitive judgements aren't and shouldn't be made from a rookie preseason game.
So how do you gauge a rookie quarterback then? What other evidence do you have in order to keep or cut him? SMDH. You guys will say anything to belittle Dak in favor of the face you want to see under center. This was a silly statement.

Taryn Christion is 6-2-222 and runs a 4.49 40yd Dash.
Pro Day Results Dates: 03/29/19
Hand: 09 1/4 Arm: 30 5/8
Wingspan: 75 1/4
Height: 6015
Weight: 218
40 Yrd Dash: 4.49
20 Yrd Dash: 2.63
10 Yrd Dash: 1.69
225 Lb. Bench Reps:
Vertical Jump: 34 1/2
Broad Jump: 09'11"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.47
3-Cone Drill: 7.12
He is definitely an athlete. However, he only had 1 season of +60% completion. He could be better than Rush and White or the next Patrick Crayton. His passing suffered as his number 1 target Dallas Goedert was in the NFL. Cowboys scouted Goedert hard so they have good info on what Christion is as a football player.

The Seahawks pick up Geno Smith at QB to back up Russell. So there was no room for the UDFA QB.

I'm hereby prepared to crown some as yet nameless soul to man the backup QB spot that nobody suspected might be our savior in waiting.
His name shall only be revealed if and when the appropriate time has arrived to do so. I can honestly surmise I'll be as surprised as anyone!

I'll wager they're beating the bushes for any QB who's more legit than what we now have in house.

I'm hoping they'll find one. The decent backup QBs nowadays are almost as scarce as hen's teeth.

This guy looks like a developmental guy *lower* than what we've got.

If Mike White can take over for Rush as the backup, then Rush is expendable and we can take on another developmental QB.

The fact that they're looking at this guy is proof positive that they're beating the bushes for help, whether they hire him or not. To be honest, I'm not convinced that White is much better than Rush is, if at all. The staff wouldn't be looking at Taryn if they thought both of them were the answer. Nevertheless, we'll learn more about them shortly.

Factually speaking, both White and Rush will be obliged to show something in TC, otherwise, they could both be in trouble. Anyhow, if I had to pick between them here and now, I'd begrudgingly go with White. One thing's for sure -- capable backup QBs are really scarce.

Honestly, I'm just hoping we end up with a decent backup, even if it's someone the likes of Elmer Fudd. Now, that's really beating the bushes! ;)

I got all excited at first, but it's really not proof of much. Could just be due diligence of someone who came available. Could just be gathering intelligence on the Seahawks.

I think our backup will be Rush or White. I don't see them going with a free agent pickup at this late date as our backup game 1.
