Some networks no longer available on Direct TV in some markets?

Sounds like you don’t know what you’re talking about. Sunday Ticket is still offered by Directv and heavily promoted on their website.

https://www.att.com/directv/sports/nfl.html

Whatever. Directv now does not have the NFL Channel or package, at least where I live. Believe me, I had it all and now I don't. It's not like I would lie about it. Trust me, I'm literally looking at the directory right now, not there. Called yesterday, can't get it.

You do not have NFLN? That makes no sense at all. That's owned by the league and CBS and Fox have nothing to do with it.

Dish pulled this about 2 years ago. They got the deal done just before the NFL season started. Dish said the local channels wanted to up their fees to broadcast locally and did not want to pass that on to the consumers ( so they said). Eventually it was settle.

Exactly the reason we dumped Dish and went to Directv Now.

The hundreds of other channels you never watch. lol

Exactly. Hell, I don't even watch programming on regular network channels, unless it's live, such as news or sporting events. If not for those things, I would be completely happy to get rid of all of it and never look back. It's worthless anymore and to be honest, this is why I'm not real sure that TV revenue, in terms of the NFL, are going to continue to rise, as predicted. I mean, who really wants to watch the same reruns on all of these same channels all the time? I think that market is headed for a crash and burn and perhaps a reorg of some kind is the result but, I definitely believe that revenue is going to be impacted and that's going to have a direct effect on TV contracts, IMO. IDK, guess we'll see.

So I just got done with Directv Now. Couldn't speak directly to anybody because they no longer do that. Now, you have to IM them. I specifically asked for a number and they basically ignored that request and simply continued to IM. I explained that I no longer have Fox, CBS or NFL available through Directv Now. I asked when resolution might be expected and/or what is offered to view NFL games, college and other sporting events. The answer was basically, a three page PR post about why they are no longer available and a recommendation for a website to follow progress of resolution online. There is no option available, at this time, according to the IM.

It is correct, NFLN is not owned by ATT. This is a separate issue with exclusivity and NFLN has had their outs with cable companies in the past. CBS, FOX and NFLN all have different owners but all with the same issue, money.

Very well. The bottom line here is that they are clearly no longer available on Directv Now, at least in my Geo. There is no question about that.

So you are talking about the streaming service? I have NFLN and CBS and Fox. This is a market specific situation evidently and one DirecTV Now, which I have never used.

What route did you go.
Ashamed to say I haven't done it yet either...but plan to this summer.
Your timing might be right on because when they settle this, and they will, the additional cost will be passed onto the subscribers. There will be a nice letter apologizing for the inconvenience and they will express regret and being a victim of greed. However, our officers need their trinkets and suite at the stadiums so we're passing the increase along to you.

I only watch those 3 nets for live football and never watch them for anything else but I will have to pay for the incidental usage just the same.

for live TV I use Directv Now since I get a discount through AT&T but I've tried Hulu Live, Sling, Fubo. Then I have of course Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video.

Directv Now doesn't have my locals yet and doesn't seem like they will but I have an antenna for those, thinking about getting that Amazon Recast system. Over the air DVR service, also lets you stream to phone and fire sticks, etc.

Got some illegal streaming services when worst comes too worst.

Yes. We left Direct TV and moved to DirecTV Now when they were discontinuing the NFL Ticket back in 2018. We were paying a fortune, like over 500 bucks, for the package we had at the time. A lot of the programming was content that the kids liked or wanted. Well, the announcement of discontinuation and the fact that we really no longer needed a lot of that stuff made it an easy choice for us. We went to DirecTV Now, which at the time, offered a lot more, in terms of ability to pick and choose what you wanted. What wasn't offered, we could usually just go to Amazon for and spend 20 bucks for a season of whatever, one time. However, the content seems to be shrinking and it's directly impacting one of the few things I care about, Football.

Wow, I thought my 140 was high, I don't feel so bad now.

Don't know how college football is looking at it but the NFL is in a full court press on the streaming side of things and evidently that's what set ATT off and they dropped the NFLN because of that. I wondered what was going to happen once they got wind that they were looking at other options for Sunday Ticket and I don't know what ATT is upset about, they're paying 1.5B for that and not making a profit on it. They do; however, look at that as a lure to bring in certain types of subscribers, that's why I first changed over.

Well, I'm about at the point where I'm just gonna start going to HS games and leave the rest to the folks who know more then I. For 8 bucks I can go watch that and to be honest, I like watching those kids, who have nothing in it, more.

It's all good.

Yeah, I broadcast HS football on 3 of my stations in OK and went to some games and the excitement level was great. I also like the sound of the band on Friday nights.

Man, I am old fashioned about that part of it. I wish they'd go back to showing the marching bands at halftime in college games instead of the talking heads, I am really getting tired of all of them.
