Didn't these "geniuses" learn from passing up on JJ Watt and seeing how destructive he's been his whole career with the Texans? So, instead, come the 2nd chance around, they decide to pass up on his little brother as well, who btw is tearing it up with the Steelers? SMH.
And to make it 100 times worse I hate the Steelers more than any team in the NFL or the world in general.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::thumbdown:

The worst part of this is very few felt this was the right pick at the time.

Still wanna argue TJ Watt wouldn’t have won the starting job by now?
TJ watt is playing his natural position at OLB with the steelers and they also are a great staff at developing linebackers. Would TJ be as effective playing here at the 4-3 end with marinelli as his coach. I'm going to say with 100% certainty that he would be less effective. Carl Lawson from the bengals was my guy that draft. Would have fit in perfectly at the RE spot. But Jerry is an idiot and will only take DE's with a certain arm length

I agree I didn't like the pick at all. But i personally didn't a still don't believe this staff would have been successful with TJ watt.

Should have taken TJ Watt!

I'm surprised it took 7 posts for that canard. The next snap he takes as a 4-3 DE will be his first, in college or the pros, but hey he's JJ's brother so he'd be awesome at it. :muttley:

Should've not taken Taco, regardless.

I don't think that was the argument with Watt. The argument was that he was more suited to a 3-4 defense than a 4-3. Which is true, but as we know now even with that he still would have been a better pick than Taco. Taco just appears to be a bust.

It’s not about TJ the DE vs TJ the OLB. That has no bearing on Dallas’s 1st round pick. This is entirely about skipping over TJ the DE for Taco the DE. If TJ was a DE would he be on the roster bubble? Heck no. He was clearly the better pick.

I go back and look at that draft and there really isn't another guy taken close to tacos pick that I would have been thrilled about at the time. Falcons move up for mckinley and bills took tredavious white right before us. I really wanted white if he fell to us.

I am still ok with them passing on TJ. Yes he is better we know that now. But back then you would have drafted a guy that never rushed with his hand in the dirt. Our staff can't develop d line talent to save their life. I did expect that project to turn out well.

I was never a fan of that pick when his name started to float out about three weeks before the draft that the Cowboys really liked him...I just never saw him as a defensive end, more of a one gap defensive tackle....

really wished the cowboys selected right tackle Ryan Ramczyk instead

You're going to be eating Taco for a while. This is his 3rd season and he has been nursing a bad shoulder and ankle (off season surgeries). He will be ready for the season. The Cowboys are not going to cut him until he really proves he is a bust and not a player that will haunt them if they cut him to early.

Lail Collins has been beating DL in one on one drills since Pop Warner. But, if you are a speed rusher, he will lose concentration in technique at RT. If you have a bad shoulder and ankle, you are never going to look good going against a former All SEC OL.

Half of the time, the Steelers D runs a 4 man front, and half of that time, TJ Watt plays with a hand in the dirt... bro. I honestly feel TJ Watt would have fit in just fine at DE in our 4-3 D, even if a majority of the time he plays standing up. The guy is simply a playmaker.
