Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott will not play in the 2019 season without a new contract, a source close to the situation told ESPN's Josina Anderson on Tuesday.

I hope the Cowboys start making contingency plans. Investigate getting better running backs for your committee.

And start up the fines, as is their right.

why according to this group here ANY RBS BY COMMITTEE CAN BE JUST AS GOOD, ITS ALL THE LINE LOL.. right:rolleyes:o_O if we go into the first 4 games without zeke and use what we have on the roster , we are in trouble..hes not only a top rb and makes this offense go but 77 catches last year makes him like 2 players we are losing a great 3 down blocking elite rb and a wr threat front he backfield..he makes defenses game plan for them, instead with him gone they play a more slanted type straight up defense to simply force Dak to beat them, we have seen this story before...sure the backs by committee can be solid productive but they are hollow numbers thats the d would let happen to make the offense be a throwing team IMO and unless I see kore from Dak , hes not that guy and this isnt that type of offense..

Grab Ajayi with an incentive laden deal. If Zeke isn't going to be here at least try and get some depth back there so we have options. Throw Weber on the PS and when Ajayi gets hurt bring him back up to play behind Morris. Pollard stays as the scat back/Dunbar guy.

I get a feeling Zeke is getting some bad advice from people in his corner who want to make a quick buck, or really good advice because they know he is a threat to himself during the offseason.

There's no reward without risk. If Dallas starts out struggling on offense, Jerry will break out the checkbook. Especially if they aren't winning games.
That's his motto. Did it with Emmitt...did it with Cooper. All Jerry cares about is being relevant, If the Cowboys struggle without Zeke this is all the media is going to be talking about.

If they can’t beat theGiants, Skins, and Dolphins, they’re frauds anyway. That tells me that none of it is worth investing in.

And shame on them if they don’t have a plan by then.

This is such a terrible take.

One, when people said running back by committee it still means having a few fairly talented guys. No one has ever suggested signing you and two of your friends to be our running backs.

But yes, I think if the Cowboys got pissed at Elliott and decided they want a Duke Johnson or Ajayi, they could cobble together a pretty decent run game (assuming this OL is healthy) with some combination of Ajayi, Morris, Johnson, Weber and then Pollard as a third down/scat back.

My proof is that everyone said McFadden sucked and yet he ran for 1000 yards in a season where we had zero QB play.
