Nick Foles signed a 4 year, $88,000,000 contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, including a $25,000,000 signing bonus, $50,125,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $22,000,000. In 2019, Foles will earn a base salary of $5,000,000, a signing bonus of $25,000,000, a roster bonus of $500,000 and a workout bonus of $250,000, while carrying a cap hit of $12,000,000 and a dead cap value of $45,125,000.

Foles won the Super Bowl and has made the Pro Bowl. Dark isn't worth more than Foles.

So why did your Eagles get rid of Foles and instead sign Wincey boy to a tune of $32 / year?

To expand Foles doesn't have the upside Wentz and Prescott. He is what he is at this point in his career. He is a guy that can be very good in the right system, but he has also proven he needs the right system to succeed. That hurts his value

I love Dak but he’s an average NFL QB.

The fact we are offering top 5 money is crazy. The fact he isn’t taking top 5 money is crazier.

My thoughts exactly.

I'm a Dak fan but i'm a realist and he is not worth the money he will demand because he's just not that good of a player.

Intangibles? Sure. He's got them. Leader? Yeah he's a great one? Sell's Jersey's? Jerry loves that. Is he clutch? I'll give him that too.

There is a lot to like about Dak but he is a high end bus driver.

How is Nick Foles worth Nick Foles?
If Im running a WCO, Ill happily pay Foles that money. He is a good WCO QB, and has shown he can be a winner in that system.

Take him out of a WCO, and he is pretty much terrible

Both are average QBs so Prescott shouldn't be worth more than Foles. Neither are worth what Foles signed for IMO. So definitely not worth Top 5 QB money.

However, the market believes you overpay due to a position not skill level so, Prescott will get his $30+M and we will all like it!

He isn't til proven differently.

Rational thought has given way to
"Anointed ones" being paid as if they have accomplished
The cap goes up every year
Next guy up gets paid more
etc..

It's been 6 years since Foles made the Pro Bowl his one and only time, and that is the only season Foles had as a good a year as any of Dak's first 3 seasons. Besides, if Pro Bowls are important to you, Dak has been on the team 2 of the last 3 years, and that would outdo Foles making it one time 6 years ago.

As for the Super Bowl, that is one game out of a 7 year career. Admittedly, Foles also played very well in the other 2 playoff games leading up to the Super Bowl, but even then you are talking about 3 games out of a 7 year career.

If you want to look at stats, It took Foles 7 years to accumulate the yardage and TDs Dak did in 3 years, and Dak has been better in virtually every other category (QR rating, completion %, TD%, INT% …)

In the end, Foles has mostly been a career back up who had one strong season early on, and had a dream playoff run 5 years later, and the rest of those 7 years hasn't amounted to much.

Foles may be an average QB but he’s clutch.

He does seem underpaid.

great post. that's been my argument and I have been accused of being a Dak Hater.....and I don't think there is anything wrong with being a bus driver. if that's what he is, then we know how to build a team, utilize/maximize what he does well and win a championship.....that's the bottom line. its not about Dak being the best, its about Cowboys being the best

with that said, I don't have an alternative to Dak at this point, but I am also not comfortable handing out $34mill /year to him....perhaps, a one year prove it deal, that he can be a better passer, better from the pocket, top 5 passer and then handing him a $36 mill/year contract would be OK. its better to slightly over pay, than handicap your self for years to come
