I agree. She has (or had) sources inside the team and I always trusted her reporting. Either somebody fed her bad info, or she's made the leap into ESPN-style sensationalism.

Very sad, if indeed Dak didn't ask for this much.
I think she was wrong about Elliot’s situation also.

Exactly, which is why we continue down this cycle of the going rate craptacular. It's self fulfilling. Of course it's the going rate because it is designed to be escalating. This is why you can not pay people based on that rational. You have to pay people, based on what their play merits. It's the only way to get this thing back on track.

Well said. I subscribe to the old school "you want it, earn it" type of thinking.

Which is why I understand the Zeke holdout. I think he's the best RB in football and should be paid as such. I would just rather he be with the team while negotiations go on, like Dak and Amari Cooper.

If you're right, this team is *****. You can say good bye to much of this roster going forward, as well as future free agents.

I just don't think he'll ever be good enough to justify that percentage of the cap.
I would use up every bit of equity I could squeeze out of Dak and look hard for his replacement unless he blows everyone away this year. They have 3 years at an average of $19M per to figure it out through the franchise tag route. He's worth that.

This is the Dallas Cowboys one issue resolved itself and 3 more come
truly im not losing sleep over BJ etc not even JS both hve long wy to go to get into Dak, Amari, and Zeke money..I believe when push comes to shuv Lewis isnt much of downgrade and would let BJ walk if his demands are even close to insane like these 3 others..

You know what, I 100% believe this, I believe that prior to all this hold out crap, Jerry intended to pay Zeke as the best RB in the league. I believe that Jerry liked Zeke and wanted to pay him that way. I believe that Jerry asked Zeke to just be patient and let him get these two deals done and then they could start working on Zeke. I believe Zeke and his agent screwed the pooch by doing what they did and now, I have no idea what he might or might not get.

Helps to have a rich wife who makes top dollar. It's the reason Brady takes less. The gift in NE that keeps on giving.
No worries, let's dump dak and get a QB with a rich wife. I'm sick of this terrible QB wanting to be the highest paid player in the NFL.

How many fans accept that? He is not the best QB in the league not even close. I do not want to start paying players like that. Like let's pick..... Carson Wentz Dak in head to head is 3and 1. It doesn't work like that. Carson wentz was on his way to a league MVP. Dak was maybe a team MVP his rookie season and Zeke could have took that. They can set the bar high to meet in the middle al he wants I wouldn't move from 30. I'd let him test the market. If he can get better then more power to him. He isnt even a top 10 QB. he's not making any sense.

Ok say he gets 4 years. I'd rather ruin this season than be stuck to Dak at 40 mil per season over the next 4 seasons
Even 4 years at $40MM per is highly unlikely to be fully guaranteed. Neither Wilson or Wentz got anything close to that.

Besides, as I have said before, a rumor isn't fact anyway. How many rumors do we read this time of year that are either proven false, or simply fade away without there ever being verification?

Yep.

Signing Zeke would be an additional $7 million this season.

Signing Dak would be an additional $33 million.

Sign Zeke now. Not Dak.

This is gonna be wrong. Just sign him to 32.5 and be done. Any more than that and he plays the rookie deal. And gets a tag. Which his agent won’t let him play under. lol. These agents are giving these players bad advise.

I guess you watch a lot of Cowboys football? I only ask because I've seen nothing from Dak that makes me believe that he is our "Franchise QB". What is it that you have seen that suggest this? Don't try to tell me about my team. I won't try to tell you about yours.

The fact that you’d offer him 30 mil a year implies your FO doesn’t view him as a temporary convenience

The problem is it isn't $19 million per year in terms of the salary cap, it's next to nothing this year, and then big hits each of the next 2 years. I'm not sure the $19 million/year will even hold up anyway as more and more QBs sign and the average of the top 5 grows.
