This assumes Pollard and Company can play at an NFL level.

That fact has not been proven thus far. Preseason games are not a yardstick of what happens when a rookie steps on the field for the first time against an opponent who is concentrating on stopping him.

He could be greatness. But as of this moment, there is no evidence either way.

I believe there is a lot of wishful thinking going on with fans concerning Pollard.

But then I am a show me guy.
I remember when everyone was excited about Troy Hambrick. And Joseph Randle.

I'm seeing history repeat itself here...…………..Zeke holds out two games, team goes 0-2, Zeke gets brand new contract.

I wonder when something like that happened before, oh yeah, some dude wearing number 22 did it.
Emmitt honored his rookie deal and wanted a new one. My understanding was that he didn’t have a contract. Couldn’t come to a agreement.

Zeke is not ES. Also there’s a good chance this team can still win those first two games without Zeke. Players go down every year and teams find ways to win without them.

This is so far from true it’s ridiculous. Every team would take facing Pollard instead of Zeke 10 out of 10 times. Advantage Cowboys would be Zeke fully ready to go with a new weapon as a compliment in Pollard. Make them prepare for Zeke not knowing how and when you will use Pollard.

I hear ya, but imagine how fast Zeke rolls into town when Pollard has 55 yards catching out of the backfield, 45 on the ground. Jackson adds another 65 on the ground. RB by committee can work. Fresh legs.

I also imagine Margot Robbie slipping into something more comfortable and we watch a movie and then....well and then ain't nonya bidness.

But you get the idea.

Honestly, what's more likely though?

I think those odds are a little high . I think 50-50 by week 4. If we don't win without him, Jerry folds and knows that the extra coin he gives to Zeke, he won't have to spend on Dak.
I say he brings him back after 2 straight opening losses and we go on the win the SB. History repeats itself.

I'm sure several owners have called Jerry to tell him not to cave.

This would set a terrible precedent. Holdouts this early will happen every year throughtout the league if Elliott gets his way.
I think what he's done has brought the focus on this option year with 1st round picks and there is no reason to have that in place, it is strictly owner friendly and I look for that to be a bone of contention in the CBA. The tag might be as well as that can affect any player regardless of where he was drafted.

I wonder if any of those owners called him to tell him not to shoot his mouth off about extending players under contract? The players didn't start this, he and his son did and it was one of the dumbest things, among a lot of dumb things, they've ever done.

And I'd bet there's not an owner not happy that he's really close to getting himself in cap hell again.

If they lose either of those games, they have a lot more problems than the RB.

What's interesting and why I do hope he's a no show is that it puts even more pressure on Garrett to do what he's struggled to do as a HC, play without a critical player. I really have no problem if they do extend Garrett but I do want him to prove he's learned how to be a real HC and real HC's show up in the midst of adversity.

This also removes a crutch for the OC and he's got to play real NFL ball, throwing the ball and everything. I'm sure he'd prefer to have Elliott but what better way to announce his arrival than to show he doesn't have to have him?

If DC's offensive run game struggles directly or Dak's pocket struggles (continue) due to a non existent run threat, (and we're 0-2 or 1-4 out the gate), Zeke gets signed.
I have a bad feeling (given the nature of this team) Maher will be icing his leg after every game with or without Zeke. This team really needs to find a red zone offense.

You are too much of a Zeke fan to make an unbiased decision on this matter. Zeke being the "best RB in the league" is a matter of opinion. This current team not being able to win without Zeke is a matter of opinion. You are apparently unable to see the argument against giving Zeke a new contract this season. I appreciate your passion for Zeke but I don't consider you a person making a levelheaded decision in this matter.
I am first and foremost a fan of the Dallas Cowboys as everyone else is on this forum including you! Everyone on here also has an opinion otherwise why would we post anything? Of course it's a "matter of opinion" seriously? I will agree that I am not "level-headed" and that's why I don't have to make decisions for this team. Let's leave that to the owner who bought this team. We are having fun on here and not stressing over making decisions. :)

I think Tony is tired of answering the same questions.
