If you had to bet everything you had on an outcome of whether or not Pollard could replace Zeke, would you tend to look one way over the other?
I'd bet everything that a combination of Pollard and an average back like Lat Murray would match Zeke's output, but more efficiently.

How many teams in this league have a star rb anywhere close to Zeke? Yet they find ways to get in/closer to the Superbowl than we do... So let's not talk about Zeke being a "must have" to get there.
If he is a must have to get there, considering all others who don't, that just tells me it is a lack of coaching and coaching creativity.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have a great running game and still do, but the way zeke is acting, we might as well try our hand at the next guy and coincidentally the next guy (Pollard) looks pretty good.

Like others, I cannot stand grown men who act like children, can't take criticism, can't go about life with integrity and put their best foot forward. My gut feeling says look and see what we can get for Zeke on a trade. He has to be worth something.

If you have any thoughts that Pollard will be able to replace Zeke.

Maybe look at it differently. There are 29 teams who don't have a top 3 back. There are 27 teams that don't have a top 5 Oline. Yet most of them manage to churn out rushing yards & balance their offense just fine.

Easier with Zeke? Absolutely.

Doable without Zeke? Absolutely.

I think L Murray is above average but he is exactly who i keep coming back to in my mind as a perfect compliment to our current stable.

I did and you are getting ahead of yourself a bit too much. It's not hope. Its reality at this point in time.
Are you replying to the right post of mine? That made no sense at all. Maybe you should go finish your coffee before you get back with me.

You're not replacing Zeke, but you will replace his paycheck. Production vs cap hit.
Hell, if saving money is the goal, there are a lot of players we can cut. I'm certainly not of a mind to pay Zeke whatever he asks, but the OP is right that it's unrealistic to think we won't miss a beat with Pollard. Pollard was never even the go to RB in college.

What you are hoping for is a precedent that will destroy the team. Every rookie will holdout when he outplays his rookie contract.
It will not destroy the team. When will folks understand that ALL Teams eventually have a WINDOW. Once the window is closed you're in rebuilding mode for 5 years....Unless you're the Patriots. Carolina went dang near undefeated one year and was back to the pack the next. PUT All your CHIPs in or go 9-7 and hope to win 1 playoff game. Do you think every GOOD Cowboy player is gonna give discounts cause it Dallas? If so I got a bridge for sale. Zeke is the best player on the team...THE ENGINE. Zeke is simply trying to get his money in his prime and also open the door for one more decent contract in his late 20's. He will Leveon Bell this team to do it. Pittsburgh make the playoffs last year?

Lol I do need coffee for sure. I was responding to your post about Dallas winning the first 3 games of the regular season.

It will be a committee. Pollard would be a part of that. No one expects him to carry the load? But he should be set up for a nice workload with or without zeke.

And saving long term money is part of the goal.

Do we really think adding Jordan Chunn, Alfred Morris or Darius Jackson into the mix along with Pollard improves our chances of replacing what we get from Zeke?

The point of saving money isn't just to have it, it's to use it to improve the team. Taking a big hit to our running game isn't likely to do that.

Do I love the pick of Tony Pollard? Yes! I can't wait to see how Dallas uses him. Do I think Tony Pollard can take Zeke's workload? No. I'd love to see them line Tony up in the slot and in other ways. But no way is he getting 20-25 carries a game. I think he will be a great #2 RB in the league. But not a #1.

He’s not worth highest paid RB money. You have a lot of contracts on the horizon and zeke got what? a top 3 offer. Plus his work load should be lighter and he’s a headache off the field. he’d be paid already if he wasn’t.

I didn't say he was worth highest paid RB money, although he is at least in the ballpark if not for his stupid off the field behavior. I merely said we cannot expect Pollard, or a committee of our current players, to replace what we get from Zeke.

Apples and oranges. Stop being so consumed in making your point that you must ignore mine.

Rewarding Zeke's bad behavior will only result in more bad behavior in a compounded fashion with other rookies outplaying their rookie contract. That's Jaylon Smith, Byron Jones, LVE and so on... The precedent to holdout if you outperform your rookie contract must be squashed now or it will destroy the team in the preceding seasons.

The window that you are talking about is not in jeopardy just because we allow Zeke to sit out. We have a whole roster full of talent. Stop acting like Chicken Little, screaming that the sky is falling without Zeke. It's simply not the case.

You can't simply assume Pollard can do what Kamara does. I hope he can, but that's far from assured.

I agree, last year the receiver by committee was a disaster. If that's the case they may cave and sign Zeke or do something like they did with Cooper.
