This is to all the posters who want players to take a pay cut.
If your boss came up to you and said would you take a $4 an hour pay cut so he can hire a couple extra employees so that more work could get done more efficiently. But if you don't take a pay cut they will have to lay off a few employees. So who's taking that pay cut?
I understand some make less then others but I know some here make good money. So who's taking the pay cut?
This is for all the posters who want players to take a pay cuts for the greater good of the team, the same team that will eventually cut you to save money.
You won't get many good answers to the question.
If I were a player I would definitely be focused on were I wanted to play, the lifestyle there and my legacy even if it meant taking 25% less than where I didn't want to play.
I would also sign early to get guaranteed money like Jaylon just did even if I could make way more by waiting.
If Dak has a career ending injury in 2019 without a new contract then he will have made about 4M total.
If he agreed to a new contract for half of the Russell Wilson he would get 17.5M per year with 53.5M guaranteed.
The difference in going onto his post football playing life with over 50M vs with 4M made is drastically bigger in terms of life impact than 50M vs 100M.
Without agents many players would realize that concept but agents convince them to go for max money. Most agents have many other clients and the agent is not making a major life gamble by going for the max contract.
The reason the No State Income Tax issue has never helped the Cowboys is because the agents cut is not affected by how much tax the players pay. With no benefit to the agent it never gets presented to the player.
