The Cowboys don't do anybody any favors. They know they have no shot at the SB this year without Zeke. That's why they're making the offer. If they felt they didn't need him they would tell him to stay out like Pittsburgh did with Bell.

The no shot at a Superbowl is such a short sighted argument. Surely Dallas isn't making that case.

What if they give him a big deal and they don't win the Superbowl? Then you just gave the guy a big deal when you didn't have to and you're losing key players to free agency.

Also, Zeke is already one of the highest paid backs and if he sits out he will lose 250k a week.

Dallas holds every single card and Oh by the way have a easy start to their schedule.

Also, do we just ignore that this guy is a complete liability off the field?

Here are the facts like it or not, Zeke is getting his deal from the COWBOYS, likely at or near Gurley money. We can all, moan, curse, ****, or whatever but it's not a damn thing we can do about it.

BTW.....look for Dak sign real soon also IMO. I'm guessing his deal is coming in above Wentz but well below $35-40M BS being thrown around.

Maybe so, but, this is even more of a plus for Zeke. He would have led the league in carries for all 3 years if he wasn't suspended and he still has never missed a game.

If he wasn't suspended. There is your answer to one of the reasons he should get top money. He missed 6 games, you just said that. And almost got suspended again before the season started.

No, it's absurd if any RB thinks he will ever get more than Todd Gurley. That's the worst contract in the league. Zeke needs to be realistic here, and I think the conflict has more to do with guaranteed money than the total amount. Especially for a RB when the next play could always be a guy's last.

They want to change the market back on rb’s. Top 2 salary I think he’s worth it and more but I think if you give a good chunk of guaranteed close to gurley. He accepts.

I'm not even a big Zeke fan. Hopefully overtime he matures and changes my mind but i'm just not a fan of the guy right now.

With that said.. He's an awesome player.

He carried Ohio State to a National Title and ran all over Alabama in the process and he's came into the league and been the best rusher in football 2 out of 3 years and caught 70 balls last year when the team finally decided to make some sort of effort to throw him the ball.

He's a borderline perfect runningback.

Gurley looks like he is going to be a flash in the pan because his knees are giving out.

Zeke is a durable bowling ball that somehow still has great top speed as well.

Gurley has been in the league for 5 years already and is a complete stud and proven himself. If he has a injury that affects him going forward that has nothing to do with flash in a pan. When Zeke has a year close to what Gurley has done the last two let me know.

Zeke had 6 rushing TD's last year. Dak had that all by himself. Brees had 4. And they didn't need 390 carries to get them. Gurley had 21 TD's last year. And he isn't a mental midget or a head case.

You are right on all counts. But Gurley also has chronic knee issues dating back to his college days. The money the Rams invested in him could pay dividends for several years or it could be dead cap space in another season or two.

Investing heavily in running backs is scary.

Yea beating the Giants, Deadskins and Dolphins are a great way to tell we will compete for a SB. Beating the scrubs of the league. The rest of the schedule is pretty hard. I think we started 2-0 in 2015 and look how that turned out. I didn't say they will win the Sb. I said they know they have no chance to win one without Zeke. They aren't telling Zeke this but there is no other reason. You might not like it but there is no other reason to even negotiate with him. If they are really convinced we won't miss a beat with Pollard then why not tell him stay in Cabo ? We don't need you.

I agree. And it appears that contract is already a waste. They are regretting it.

Zeke is younger and is very durable. I would be fine with 13 million per year and a 3 year contract. Or at least the ability to get out after 3 years with no dead money.

Zeke is lucky they are willing to do this at all.

I disagree with him being paid like that when they have him for 2 more seasons plus a franchise tag if they want it.

2 more seasons....still under contract...

Man.. that is over.

Zekes old contract is dead.

16 days Jerry.

Then we start losing football games.

Show me the money Jerry!

Was actually looking forward to seeing Dak lead the O without Zeke. Now some will give Zeke all the credit if the O plays well. Still hope to see Pollard play too.

Just my 2 cents, but everyone keeps going back to comment about Gurley money. To me, that doesn't automatically mean the negotiating numbers started there. Perhaps Steven meant to imply that what Gurley got would factor into the conversation. Does that make sense? You could say, yes, Gurley got this, but you are one strike away from ever playing again, so we will start our negotiate lower than what he got.
I think of it how an agent would think of the phrasing.
We can assume and project all we want, but the people directly involved will surely take the words very literally.
As well they should, should it provide a leg to stand on.
