Rumor: Zeke Turns Down Contract

If you make him available for trade, you allow teams to talk to his agent. Basically you negotiate the trade compensation which is contingent on them being able to reach an agreement on a new contract. When both are done, the deal is made.

Yeah, I understand that part of a trade, but that isn't what was implied. It was implied that any of a number of teams would just jump right in and take on Zeke's demands. In today's NFL, I am not so sure that would happen. Of course, I have been wrong before and will be again in the future.

Hey when you give a DE with a history of back injuries $20M per season you have to expect the guy who is almost half of your offense $15M.

If I am Zeke I am not taking a dollar less than Gurley.

If I am Jerry I am making 1 final offer and letting it be public.... Sign or see you next year and eat the fines.

This is a front office failure either way. Season is about to start and the Jones couldn't figure this out by now. You know his demands. Meet them or move him.

I was reading yesterday that Jerry could totally ruin Zeke’s career and Zeke would never see a NFL football field again . At this point Jerry should not make anymore contact with his agent and I would start making plans without him. It is time to stand up against greed. I had rather tank the season than see Jerry give in to Zeke.

Yep. Pull the offer and immediately trade for another RB to pair with Pollard and the message will be sent. Make him available for a trade but the compensation must be over the top or he just sits. If he doesn’t show up before week 1, levy all maximum fines possible, send him the dreaded five day letter, put him on whatever list is the worst for him, barr him from the facility, do whatever you can to make his decision backfire on him while you simply move forward.

No, I don’t think any team would and that would be the ultimate leverage.

Purposely damage the Dallas Cowboys just to spite a player? That’s your plan?
Where did I say anything was my plan? There was a third option. I mentioned it. I'm not sure how refusing to give Zeke just whatever the hell he wants is "damaging the team" anyway.I think setting such a precedent would be way more damaging to the team than letting Zeke sit on a roster spot.

The way contracts go for premier players it’s a dated lowball offer.. Top Tier players typically get a higher offer than the last one.

I say pay him $500K more than Gurley or trade him...

Zeke will either get more guarantee money than Gurley or will get paid about $1 million more than Gurley.
The fact that the Cowboys have given Zeke and offer he can reject is PROGRESS!
Rule of thumb in negotiating: Never take the first offer. Zeke knows this. Zeke's agent knows this. Jerry knows this. And Stephen knows this.

Chillax, fanboys. This is going to get done.

Gurley isn’t the last RB contract. Bell was on the open market for every team to bid on. He is a franchise RB and his deal is the most recent. That makes his deal the current market and Dallas has offered more than that.

Rams screwed themselves and others with that guarantee money.

You're exactly right. Everyone but the Patriots were screwed by that contract - the Pats are the pretty much the only team that has the discipline to base salaries on value instead of market bubbles.

Put the current contract offer in front of Zeke and his agent and tell them to give me a call once your name is on the dotted line.
Or tell him the contract will only get smaller by the week.

Get Jay Ajayi here ASAP.

How in the world can you blame the front office?

Let's see:
Has past issues that the owner goes to bat for over and over - check
Has issues in offseason again - check
Has 2 years left on deal - check
Already been paid a big chunk of money - check
Demands new contract after barely slipping by another suspension - check
Gets butt hurt over a joke - check

But sure...failure on owner and not knucklehead player and turd agent.
