Is there a chance Marcus Lucas makes the team?

Seems like a crazy thought, or at least would have at one time, but is there a chance Lucas makes the team? He has had a strong preseason and appears to catch everything and run good routes. I don’t know if he has any practice squad eligibility left.

He looked good and don’t we have some injuries at TE. Where was Blake last night.

And we had 1 TE that left in some bad pain.

I think the injuries to Jarwin and Schultz are minor. It may just be they sat out as a precaution, and maybe to give Witten some work after sitting out a year.

I guess I missed someone getting injured. Was it McElroy?

Tell you what I didn’t like. The holding calls on our O-Line. Every descent run play we had was called back. Some looked like a border line calls but rookies or not Colombo needs to get that taken care of.

Yes McElroy had a neck injury I think was what they called it. No idea how minor or severe.

I didn’t think he stood a chance a week ago.

He has a shot now. I don’t think it will happen simply based off numbers

That was frustrating as hell. We also had some nice pass plans called back.

From several different things I read, Lucas is not PS eligible.

Its not unusual for the Cowboys to keep 4 TES.

I hope they do not waste a roster spot on a 4th TE, not this year.
With Witten back, and Jarwin and Schultz emerging. And they have been using Olawale in some TE type roles for blocking in TC. They do not need a 4th TE.
I know McElroy and Lucas look good in the PS games. But there are always players like that and still do not make the team.

They need to do several things to keep 2 extra players at other positions. Only keep 2 QB's and 3 TE's, as that frees up 2 important spots. Extra WR, DL, DB or LB, well a combination of 2 at those spots.

They have, but usually not. But even if they keep 3, are we sure Schultz is a lock? I would have assumed so before, and maybe he is because he is a better blocker than Lucas (or at least I assume he is), but Lucas seems to have more to offer as a receiver.

He's just a experienced camp body that got a lot of playing time due to injuries.

Probably true, but there must be something there for him to keep getting chance after chance. Schultz hasn’t proven much, but will likely get the nod based on youth and the hope for development.

Some guys are just smart and athletic enough to step-in and be a camp guy. Keylon Kincade used to be that guy for us at RB; Jamiell Showers is that guy now.

You can tell just looking at him he’s and undersized TE. Maybe has potential to be a H back.Baby has the potential to be an H-back for someone that runs that in their offense.

6 years is a long time if teams don’t see anything. He’s listed as 1 inch shorter and 6 pound heavier than Schultz, so I don’t think a size difference is the problem.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think he’ll make the team, but he has at least planted enough of a seed that it’s not an outlandish thought the way it would have been a couple of weeks ago.
