quits being crabs.

If it were you you’d probably be doing the same.

And before you respond how you’d really handle situation don’t because you’re not in his shoes.

And if you’ve taken less at your own job shame on you

In Gordon's defense, he is a year further down the road than Zeke. So, he has played out his initial 4 year deal & is asking to get paid & protected with quaranteed money rather than the team just exercising the 5th year option. Also, he was drafted 15th and thus has only made about 5 mil over the first four years. He has played in 55 games and taken a beating behind some bad lines. In short, they aren't they same situation.

If we were having the Zeke discussion next year rather than this year, I would be much more sympathetic to Zeke's position.
He has already pushed his free agency status back a year, so I'm guessing he's going for broke - his comments are not well grounded in logic or PR for the fans. Selfish posterior body part!

Could end up playing for a team that has no offensive line and takes a pounding all year, but hey he makes his money and will be forgotten and no ring.
Takes a pounding either way. The only difference is he takes his pounding a yard further down the field. Still taking the hit though.

This is too funny. I have to call BS. He talks like someone else is controlling his destiny. He is the one holding out because the money doesn't make him the highest paid. If he really wanted to be a Cowboy for his whole career, he would have already signed a deal and reported to work. The fact that he hasn't, speaks much louder than his empty words. I especially like how he threw Emmitt Smith out there like the situation is somehow the same. By the time that Emmitt left the Cowboys, he was a shell of himself when he was in his prime, and was going into his 14th season. Make no mistake about it, I believe that Zeke is an incredible player, and arguably the best at his position. Having said that, I also believe that Zeke continues to make himself look more and more foolish with everything he does.
You do realize that a person can want both right?
You can actually want to be a cowboy and want to make the most money you can at the same time.

What a stupid post.

And you said Zeke looks foolish.

Usually 3 or 4 yards down field before he is touched. But if he wants the extra money then go for it.

Zeke is full of crap. He has been offered a great deal, according to reports. All he has to do is sign the deal and he would be a Cowboy for life. So why is he still holding out? He wants to earn more than Gurley. If you look at the deal after taxes, he would be taking home more than Gurley. Something else that Zeke is not addressing is preventing him from ending his holdout. I think he is avoiding a drug test.
The NFL can test him whenever they want...

Disagree. Players should make sure they are well paid and taken care of for the rest of their lives. The contract offered does that and more. Holding out at this point is petty and greedy!!!!
It is definitely petty and greedy for teams to not give players as much as they are worth.

The problem with that is he is only set to make $3.5 million this year. In his mind playing for that is too big a risk. If his salary was in the $7-8 million range, he might not be holding out.

Add his $4M prorated bonus for this year and he's making almost $8M.

Not when he's playing hooky. I suppose all they would have to do is send him a letter telling him to report for testing but you have to catch him to certify delivery of the notice. Good luck with that while he's traveling abroad.

Players don't add that. That's money they feel they already earned and its been in their bank account for years. To the players, all that matters is this year's new money and for Zeke it's not enough to take the risk of injury touching the ball 350-450 times.

Okay another thing... just my $.02, but is it time to do away with these standard rookie contracts that rookies have no choice but to accept? I agree with the standard wage, but how about we let rookies sign a shorter contract if they feel they will out perform that contract and want to get paid while they are still in their youth. Or something like that. It is somewhat dumb that we mandate these standardized contracts then get upset when players don't honor them.

They absolutely have a choice. They can put that college degree to good use and get a different job. :p

We would be the NFLPA and the CBA. They gave up the rookies for the veterans. You can thank the likes of Jamarcus Russell and bust like him!

He is required by his contract with the NFLPA do make his where about known at all times...the NFL can test any player at any time, if said player does not take the test or make themself available it is considered a failed test!

He'd be aware of it if Jerry took it back, which he won't do as long as there is enough good will that this deal will happen. There's no way I give in to someone wanting to renegotiate with 2 years remaining AND wants top dollar. Security or Salary, pick one.

Just goes to show how poorly his brain works. Emmitt did that at the tail end of his career. Nothing similar about it.

as you keep saying but he did holdout signing his rookie deal DEMANDED MORE MONEY, GOT IT, 3 YEARS LATER HELLDOUT, DEMNANDED MORE MONEY, GOT IT, An THEN GOT 3RD CONTRQCT THAT HE WAS OVERPAID only to say thx for the Loyalty ES then leaves and plays for someone else..

all this with no cap and a different ERA

Zekes in precarious position with the last 5 years RBs are being used up and cut and deserve more money.. the 5th year option was added as leash ie bargaining tool for the Cowboys.. if Zeke turned ot to be spare that option would not have been exorcised… it was 4 yr deal, he aske for more money after yr 3, Gurley didnt have to, Rams gave him the money without him having to holdout. the FO off ice causing this, they publicly said Zeke should get gurley money but have taken months inching toward it with dumb public statements now backing out of it.. Now Bell reset the market? you basically let Zeke know he deserves Gurley money and unlike the Rams you decide to make this drag out..

I blame the FO, period.. dont say things like that and RENIG...

Shame on us if we’ve taken less at our job? Ever think some people prefer quality of life over money which money doesn’t always bring? I know that’s hard for greedy people to understand but plenty of people do.

If Zeke truly wanted to be a Cowboy the rest of his career he wouldn’t let his ego the size of his head get in the way and demand to be paid as the highest RB when the difference really isn’t that much. I would love to see him be the highest paid RB in ARIZONA for the next 5 years and see how happy he is running behind that line and losing every week. If he was truly a competitor and not so money driven he would regret it very quickly. Send the Ewok to the NFL black hole in Arizona or Miami and see how he likes it.

Jerry has no way to take it back unless Zeke retires.
