Zeke may be great, maybe even the best but you need more than 1 player to compete and win in this league. Therefore, it doesn't make sense to hold the team hostage to the demands of one player. Zeke wants to be paid the most of any running back in the league and my guess is that he wants the majority of it guaranteed no matter what. This just doesn't make sense. By doing so, there is MUCH less money to keep the other superstar players that we have, especially considering that there is a good chance we can find another running back that will be good enough behind this talented o-line. Is he the best?.. arguably yes. Should he get paid the most?... probably not.

You are correct.

Because if Zeke plays it right, from a money standpoint, he makes more money with us than with any other team, simply because that star on his helmet...

Really?

This is from your first post of the thread. So which is it? Was 2017" better" or "doesn't look too great"?

better, and doesnt look too great despite their talent. Zeke is the difference. You can be the prettiest girl at the ball, but if youre locked out at the front door then it doesnt matter.

Right, but he's already holding out with 2 years left, so skipping the whole year won't change anything. All Zeke has to lose is game checks on his rookie deal, he'll be in the same boat next offseason if he skips this season, except then Dallas can't call his bluff. He'll either get the deal he wants or be traded next offseason.

He definitely wont lose 10 game checks just to show up for 6 more on his rookie deal, gaining that year towards FA doesn't matter when Dallas can just franchise him twice anyway. He need to force their hand.

Gaining that year definitely matters. If Zeke actually missed the whole year, the Cowboys should draft another running back, and Zeke would sit until he fulfills his two years or the Cowboys find a trade they like.

Right, but they can’t trade him to someone unless he agrees not to sit out there too. And what would he ask for to accommodate the trade?

As the PPD stats indicate, Zeke is NOT THE difference. If he was, PPD would have bee higher in 2017 than 2018.

Cowboys would have to find someone willing to give him a new deal to facilitate a trade. But the cruz of my argument is Zeke would play his two years of his current deal or basically retire. Facilitating a trade would be unlikely imo.

BINGO! One would have to be a blithering idiot to go out on the cash cow limb to pay a guy who in all respects has shown he is not mature enough to handle the small % he is paid now. What good will having THE highest paid RB do us, IF he is suspended for more of his boneheaded off field antics? I for one would NOT go out on that limb with this kid. He hasn't shown the common sense to stay out of trouble and off the front pages of every NFL paper to be due that. Like every other cowboy fan, I want to see him running in our back field, just not carrying 100 money bags with him.

I hear you brother , If he had Jaylon Smith type character and work ethic came to camp and requested a raise Jerry would have given it by now .

When you ask to be paid top money your decisions off the field need to be as good as the ones on the field. In this league bad judgement off the field can mean no playing time and a very poor return on investment for Jerry and our team

Their supposed to be.
Trolls are obsessed with gaining enough attention on an opposing teams forum, that its starts a 6 page discussion, on a thread they started.
You want trolls to leave...
"ignore feature"

Just pointing out the pathetic comedy of the situation. Not really that affected by their presence.

He isn't a grinder and relies on the big plays to rack up stats. Barkley isn't getting you 4-5 yards a pop. Then people say he is so great he averaged 5 yards a carry............
He is great. If Zeke doesn't watch himself, Barkley will take over the Rushing Title.

First off you didn't include my entire comment. Second do you even watch Barkley, he isn't a grinder. You aren't going to hand him the ball and he gets 4 to 5 yards almost every carry. Barkley is the type of back that relies on a big run. You are the perfect example I was talking about when I said you look at ypc and see 5 yards a carry and think he is a grinder. Nope, he gets tackled a ton at the line of scrimmage or for negative yards and then will get a long run.

LIterally says theres still issues. They only have 5 days, when those issues couldnt be ironed out in the last 30. I'm not saying it wont happen. But as of today, it hasnt happened, you're arguing semantics based on rumors. Zeke is not signed, that is the only fact here.

You sound like you’re clinging to that hope that he won’t play, but if the Eagles are so freakin’ awesome, it shouldn’t matter if he’s there or not! Right?

I think he should play because you need him, I actually don’t care if he does play because you’ll beta the giants either way. And I fortunately did not bid on Tony Pollard like the guy in my league who’s about to get a gut punch when Zeke returns.

I agree with you. He is Barry Sanders except too much of a panocha to play on special teams.

Elliott and Pollard and Olawale behind that line? Can’t wait.

Some of yall let'n ol' Aero rattle yalls cage lol... But i get it, when he first started coming around the mothership forums several years back, i was guilty of fallen for it too. He's an Eagle fan through and through, but he knows his stuff..... And he knows how to get under cowboys fans skin.

Cap, just because I counter his Eagle-ish blatherings doesn’t mean he’s getting “under my skin”. I’m actually more annoyed with the small but extremely vocal and deadly serious Eeyores that won’t stop crying long enough to enjoy the ride.
