Hey, I have an idea! Let’s take something most people here wanted to see happen and turn it into another opportunity to slam the Jones boys.

Pretty much all this thread is. I always find it funny when some say the Jones needs to shut their mouth. Wake up call they own the team if people don't like it then move on but they own and operate the team they are not going to stop talking so deal with it

I understand what you’re saying. My problem is with the unnecessary public running at the mouth of this FO. Negotiating tough is good. Not showing your cards is good. But Jerry and Stephen talk more publicly than any other NFL FO. My point is they need to talk less.

They may not have set the market. Zekes deal doesn’t begin for 2 more years. By that time 15 mil may not be tops for a RB. It’s average is the highest but also has most years of team control. It’s a compromise.

Plus of the 90 mil only 50 is guaranteed so it allows them to get out in the later years if needed

They didn't 'set the market'. What they did was add two years to the agreement to allow the agent and client to crow about the numbers "highest paid running back! Blah blah blah!" It's all for show. This is a backloaded eight year contract. What player signs a deal putting them under team control for eight years?

And some people want to say there was 'no compromise' from Elliott's camp? Yeah, keep looking. As long as it takes for you to see and understand the truth.

I think they just get more attention than the rest. Being owner and GM they will have more to say since they are the ones making these deals and when it comes to the Cowboys the media will always be paying attention. Tex talked a lot as well when he was here

Seriously, who cares what anyone says? Nothing is written in stone and whether or not they stick to their "word" is irrelevant.

Well they’ve put together a top 5 roster which is actually really difficult to do. Just ask Detroit, Oakland, TB and others who’ve tried for 15 years to do that.

If you're expecting the Jones boys to shut up and not talk, you're setting yourself up for anger and frustration. It simply comes with the territory, you take the good and the bad when it comes to those two.

It’s 15 mil per year in new money. But that’s not the important part anyway. He wanted more guaranteed money than Gurley...and he got it. Zeke got exactly what he wanted. I see no concessions on his part. The Cowboys signed him to a deal that they didn’t want to...and, more importantly, at a time they didn’t want to.

The Jones boys didn’t exactly win here. They will only be able to breath easier if Zeke can remain exceptionally durable and productive over the next 5-6 seasons

And quite frankly they're not getting enough credit for it. Jerry the GM has crafted a heckuva personnel and scouting department and they have been killing it for the most part in their player acquisitions. The one criticism that you can make at this point is that they've been exceedingly loyal to a coaching staff that has underachieved given the players given to them. And even that looks to be changing.

I have no problem with the deal at all.
