So what do you guys see happening?

Byron Jones, Chido, and Anthony Brown will all become available.

Can we potentially bring back all 3?

Would we pick Chido and Brown over Byron or vice versa?

It's looking like Corner is going to be the top priority in the 2020 draft.
I think Lewis and Chido stay. Brown is replaceable in the draft and Jones doesn't figure to take much in the way of a team friendly deal and the boys always seem to let good CBs walk.

I will wait and let it all play out. Things have a way to work themselves out for the most part. If what I read is true, we will have around $85 million in cap space next year. Plenty of $$$ to sign everyone.

Going into the OTA's there were around 40 players that were going to be a FA in 2020, including players as ERFA and RFA's.
I said back then that list will be cut down by the natural process of things. I expected it to get down to around 20 to 25 because there are so many players on 1 year deals as well. Normally it always was around 15 to 20.

Right now it is around 27, and many of these one year deals will be replaced by draft picks and new mid level FA's as well.

Dak and Cooper get new deals, and probably Byron too. Players like Witten and Sean Lee will probably not be resigned.
So down to 21. Not sure of the exact number, but it is around that.
Some will get another 1 or 2 year team friendly deal. Some will not get offers, as they will leave via FA, and we may get comp picks.
As I said above, all of this works itself out.

I was going to start a thread about this, but figured this is a good place to post it for now.

Can we afford them now after the Zeke deal??
In Jerry's hypothetical words: "Let them walk!! I only need my highest paid RB, a QB, and 1 WR and we can win the superbowl with just these 3 guys!l!!" (Translation: "As long as the media keeps me in the news, which keeps the money pouring in..then I'm good!")
:(:(:( The Zeke deal is going to hurt the team for years...ok MIGHT hurt the team for years  depends on inkury/level of success I suppose.

I doubt it does.

i'm watching Byron jones coming out of the gate in these next few games to open the season, could he struggle while still trying to recapture his 2018 form prior to the hip injury.
That would not help his contract year status.. and maybe the Cowboys would want to see another prove it year from him, same as they did Dlaw in consecutive years.
I could be wrong on Jones, but i'm still not sold on a guy that has zero INTs hands and wont ever make a play on the ball for INTs vs knock-downs and won't ever come up with turnovers.
I think he's solid man coverage guy but not elite. And should Richard leave and Cowboys refer to a more zone coverage DB coach/scheme- Jones is finished, he simply
can't play in zones, off-cushion scheme.

- With Anthony Brown, I would have to see him full time, full season as an outside starting CB to even think about branching him out a big contract.
I just think he's more of a role player than he is a full time guy, though his hands are up and down when it comes to INTs, We can win with him as a 3rd CB/slot.

- Ironically I think the same with Jordan Lewis as he's a much better role player than he is a starting CB on the outside. He's feisty scrapper but I think the speedy separation guys can gives him fits
and his coverage can be too take some but give some.. but he easily has the best ball hawk skills and INTs hands among the CB's. I like in a nickel/slot but nothing more than that.

- and with Awuzie - he's another that has Jordan-like feisty and scrappy, but he still has issues of not turning his head to make a play on the ball in flight.
Is he the type that can only be very serviceable, but not the type to change the dynamics of shutdown coverage and forcing turnovers. With high picks like him I find myself wanting more, and could we get better, more All pro talent right here in the upcoming draft ?

Imo, I think we definitely draft CBs relatively high next year, if Jones departs this year.
so i'm in watch to see how Jones performs and if the Jones up and re-sign Jones during regular season,

The CAP goes up and new CBA will allow teams to use portion of their stadium / merchandising local revenue as roster bonuses for designated players.

This way teams their is a semi-hard CAP and if owners want to spend their own money to keep talent they can to a certain degree.

Let Byron walk

Sign Brown to a new deal

Draft a corner early in 2020

Start lewis chido and brown
I agree can’t give everyone big contracts. Doubt he’ll be available when the Cowboys pick but would love for Bryce Hall to be a Cowboy.

Awuzie is under contract through 2020. He's scheduled to count $1.3 million against the cap that year ... unless I'm missing something.

I'd re-sign Jones after this season, let Lewis take over the slot for Brown next year and then possibly re-sign Awuzie in 2021 depending on his play. (We could up both of those by a year and I'd be fine with it.) If we let Jones walk, Awuzie and Lewis could start, but it doesn't seem that the coaches want Lewis to do that. I see Brown getting a shot at starting for a team with weak corners so I can't see him returning for what we'd be willing to pay a third corner.

Chido is entering the third year of a four year deal so no rush to make a decision on him.

If Byron has another year like last year he’ll command a lot in FA so we may be forced to let him walk.

Richard has a bit of a history of turning late picks into top performers at CB so that may be the plan anyway.

Why would he not go for a huge contract?
I mean honestly at this point, it's just wishful thinking

Edit:

Sorry, I feel you deserve a bit more substance..it's an excuse but I'm trying to multitask

There are seemingly a ton of "what ifs" to be honest, I think we could all really beat this to death from 1000 different angles

Really depends on Chido IMO. Does he step up, or is he that guy who is above average but not really worth paying just value for?

Same goes to Jones to a lesser degree. Is he still that shutdown CB this year. another prove it year like D-Law.

I would hope to keep one of AB/Jones. IIRC the market value for slot corners is 7-8 million.

wouldn't mind signing Brown if he would take 6-7mil a year.

Chido is gonna be this teams Malcolm Jenkins soon

IMO

I'm going to assume many of the "let Byron walk" crowd are the same ones against re-signing Elliott. I don't understand why fans want to get rid of our best players and then get upset when we're not competitive enough to win a Super Bowl. It's tough to win with inferior players, unless you just have brilliant coaches, and it's difficult even then.

I don't see Dallas paying Byron Jones. Might be able to bump Brown but even that is questionable. If I am Lewis, I get out from Richard's oppressive regime.

We will probably draft one again in the 1st or 2nd.

@MichaelWinicki will be beside himself with joy.

From what I've been reading over the last six months or so, it's because he's not leading the league in interceptions every year
