You won’t have the cap space after signing Dak to do that unless you start restructuring.

This is the reality of spending like drunken sailors on offense (when we sign Dak and Cooper).

You are going to have to penny pinch on D.

You're out of control.......lol

So what do you guys see happening?

Byron Jones, Chido, and Anthony Brown will all become available.

Can we potentially bring back all 3?

Would we pick Chido and Brown over Byron or vice versa?

It's looking like Corner is going to be the top priority in the 2020 draft.
Give them all extensions!

From what I've been reading over the last six months or so, it's because he's not leading the league in interceptions every year

He was pretty much universally acknowledged as one of the top corners last year. His play slipped some late in the season, when he was trying to play through injury, but for much of the season, he was as close to a shutdown corner as we've had in a long time.

I'd like to see more (since that was just his first as one of our starting corners), but if he starts the season playing as well as he played for the most part last year, you don't let that go without a fight.

they have 5 interceptions between them in 4 and 3 seasons. You want to know a dumb idea, pay them big money. You can draft and develop jokers like this for much cheaper.
So, in order for a DB to be considered good..they have to have copious amounts of interceptions?

Why are you making up sh** scrappy? Did I say they weren't considered good? Did I say they had to have "copious" amounts of interceptions? You don't pay big money to corners that dont create turnovers.

I'm still, to this day, trying to figure out where this hang up is on interceptions. Byron doesn't deserve a second contract because he doesn't create turnovers..yet a quick glance at DBs who consistently create turnovers has given me a very small pool to pick from.

Marcus Peters and Richard Sherman seemed to be the only consistent DBs with turnovers.

So, yourself saying we can just pick a few kids out of college that can reproduce Byrons season last year? And take the gamble of them paying off, not only being a **** down corner but also a ballhawk?

My apologies if I'm coming off crass, I'm just trying to find a basis for the "needs turnovers for contracts" argument.

No, but it's really hard to justify big contracts to guys who don't make big plays.
Right, I get that..who wants to pull an Albert Haynesworth for a DB. At the same time though, I feel there might be a bit of a trade off..and I'd hate to see the Cowboys walk away from an outstanding shut down corner(all assuming, of course, he continues to play at the level he did a majority of the year last year)

Im thinking CB is going to be a priority next draft. Jones is as good as gone. Brown may be kept on a lower tier deal

Chido and Lewis are extention candidates after this season depending on play

I suspect it comes down to La’el Collins and Byron Jones. Are we better off with C.Williams and a 1st round OT or Jourdan Lewis and a 1st round corner? I would have liked the corner but if Byron Jones is looking at 16-18m and La’el Collins asked for 10m I can understand going that direction.

I think next draft we go 1st & 3rd on a corner and lean on Chido and Lewis to carry the load until draft picks develop. We should be alright.
