if moore's schemes and playcalling are successful, when will other teams try to poach him?
everybody wants their own mcvay
he would be one hot commodity as in the case of kingsbury.

JJ will adopt Moore and give him part ownership

Damn we are in an awful hurry to worry about things aren't we?
Is wondering how to deal with other teams poaching Kellen Moore of all people to be a head coach really any sillier than dreaming up the scenario in the first place after one game? o_O

Hmm, maybe Richards gets "promoted" to the HC position, and Moore gets Assistant HC/OC?

JJ's pretty adept at keeping those he favors (McClay, and even Garrett when a couple other teams tried to lure him when he was OC). I suspect he could do the same with Moore, though nothing's a given. He could very well tell Moore he's the HC-in-waiting. JMO

The problem with this is Jerry has already told Richards he is the head coach in waiting. This team is build to run the football and play great defense. I think Jerry would let Moore go because there are a lot of very good young offensive coordinators in the college game to choose from. Not so many really outstanding D coordinators. Besides its only been one game against a bad defense lets wait awhile before we crown Moore we know what Richards has done with this defense.

Garrett's contract is up after this season.

They'll either dump Garrett or move Garrett to a front office job as Director of Coaching if they can't just keep Moore as OC by paying him more.

You got me......what is it (lol)
New title as a way to keep/promote Moore as HC and Garrett as a mentor?

josh mcdaniel is paid like a new head coach by patriots and has a 5 year contract...

if its about money, that's not a major hurdle with the jones- i'm sure richard got paid a damn good unclosed sum to keep him here - and away from that swamp disaster
called the Dolphins, ...
i believe Garrett was made the (or among) highest paid OC when he was anointed the title upon hiring.
its about having the opportunity to be the hed master with his own players and his own assistant OCs/DC's ,assistants,
but of course these assistants would prefer to be HC under suitable conditions and an organization stable and committed to winning.

that josh daniels/Pats situation may be one of a kind as Daniels had his new HC job and totally bailed out on Colts and left them in a dispair HC search situation.
could there be some hidden controversy on how long belichek is deciding to coach and retire ?

Not saying you're wrong, but I have never read that JJ has promised Richard (or any other current coach) anything. Your post is the first I've heard of that. Also, I fully realize that yesterday was just one game, so to base anything based off of that one game would be very short-sighted...I was simply responding to the OP's premise of what happens if Moore's success were to continue. Not saying that he would/should be promised the HC gig down the road, was just stating that if JJ wanted to keep him, he usually finds a way.

Jason was actually making more as OC than Wade was as Head Coach. He wrote as much in his memoir Son of Bum:Lessons My Dad Taught Me About Football and Life. He writes....

"With one year left on my contract, I had my agent ask Jerry for an extension on my deal. It seemed like things were good, but they weren’t. Or at least, they weren’t good enough. The year before, when we went 9–7, the press wanted to fire me. Now here I was, with a 33–15 record and a playoff win in three seasons, and coming off an 11–5 year. I thought I’d get Jerry to extend my contract beyond the 2010 season. But he wouldn’t.

Another factor was Jason Garrett had some head coaching opportunities. He got an offer from the Baltimore Ravens [in 2008], and his agent evidently went back to Jerry and said, “If you give him what Baltimore is paying him as a head coach, he’ll stay in Dallas as offensive coordinator.” Jerry matched the offer and now Jason was making more than me."

I get it. But let’s let the season play out and hopefully play meaningful games through all of January 2020!

only Kingsbury has already been an experienced head coach of a major program ( texas tech ) whereas Moore is on his 1st term as OC, and only two
years of NFL coaching experience - but what if some team decide he is worth the gamble because he is that innovative and bright and will grow into
a capable HC ? and here's the luxury of hiring that kind of offensive mind - you would never have to worry about your OC leaving as the offense will always
go through the head coach -ala Mcvay, Pederson, Peyton.

that's the way it was supposed to be with Garrett, but Garrett is limited, he knows 90's Cowboys offense and thats it. Seems like when assistant Tony Sprano (reportedly help novice Garrett in addition to his OL coach role) moved on after 2007 and Garrett took more of an OC role ( perJerry's insistence) the offense immediately took a step back. and thus hence Jerry's wake call from Garrett's HC/OC dual role (which rumored that jerry took the idea from either Al Davis or Joe Gibbs)

and on to a reported forced hire (thanks again jerry ?) of OC/OL coach Bill Calahan whose west coast oriented mindset didnt mish well with Garrett's time based rhythm mindset - and this became another internal mess ...then came Linehan and from seasons such as 2014 under Romo..and 2016 under Dak, all seemed to be going well ... until ......- and we pretty much know the rest of the story from here ....

Others have suggested VP of Clapping.

It would be a Jerry type move to avoid firing Garrett by giving him a "promotion".

there is one additional promotion after offensive coordinator

No, both Jerry and Stephen Jones are the boss over Garrett. Stephen is VP of football operations.

McClay might be above Garrett in the heirarchy.

Takes more than just play calling to be a HC. He needs leadership, he needs to have the balls to handle big egos, players and assist coaches included. He needs to command respect from referees, etc. There are a lot of great coordinators that do not have what it takes to be a HC. Plus, with the loaded roster we have, many won't give him the credit he may deserve.
Totally agree. He’s not near ready for a HC gig. He needs a few more years of seasoning and success.
