The price is probably too much with a 2nd thrown in.

And again, if he is vehement about not playing SS.......................... that might be a non starter for us too.
Honestly playing SS in passing situations in a buzz role is where he should be best.

He had a very good rookie season.

A top 11 pick blue chip prospect that played very good in his rookie season, doesnt have his value diminished to a 2nd.

It's not a question of if his rookie season indicated he could be better than what we have, it's just not enough time for a proper evaluation, imho...

I trust whatever they do will be a good choice. This team is past the years of making bad investments. They are smarter then we are, even if we do not like to admit it all the time.

I wonder if fans will feel this way when they release Taco just to make room for Quinn because that’s the way it appears to me to be heading. I think they only kept him to keep Quinn’s roster spot warm and to give themselves two weeks to trade him. If they can’t, the plan is to release him when it’s time to add Quinn.

Like Minkah. I just don’t see where he fits in Richard’s defense. We have a great FS in Woods and slot CB in Lewis. We need a box SS (who can tackle and cover some) to replace Heath.

We need to improve by finding a SS who likes to tackle and blitz but can also cover man to man, especially TEs

Sure, but it's not like those guys are commonplace, I'm sure the Cowboys would love to have another Darren Woodson, but they're few and far between.

Every team has a weak spot, that's why games are won or lost in large degree on match ups, but if a team had Pro Bowlers at every position, then how would you exploit those match ups? But if theis guy is so valuable, Cowboys won't be the only team asking about him, either....

His college tape and rookie season is.

Are you saying we should never use a 1st rounder on drafting a player since we haven't had any time to evaluate his play at the NFL level?

I'm sorry to the 11 people that liked this, but there's so much wrong in this post. Very little research went into this.

Phins rotate their DBs like most teams rotate their rush men. So no Minkah is not a back up lmao. Even if they didnt rotate, a backup doesnt play 64% of snaps in week one. He also played the 3rd most snaps on defense for the phins last year, so the only 11 games started statement is really bad too.

After that the phins reportedly wanted a 1st for him, but will have to settle for a 2nd. They don't want a player back if you paid ANY attention to the dolphins the last six months you'd know that. Even if they wanted a player, Tacl foesnt even come remotely close to the same value.

So the question is would yall trade a 2nd for him?

I welcome any information on the player.

When I say "from my understanding" that means I don't know all of the details surrounding the player but from the basic overview he was only credited with 11 starts last year. They also had both players show as starters on the depth chart listed as starters in game 1 this year plus Fitzpatrick which still points to something add about the situation.

After more research it appears ** and other players like starting Safety and big contract player Reshad Jones were unhappy about their roles in game 1. Jones was removed at one point and was seen throwing his helmet in a fit of anger.

** and his mother have complained openly about his role under the new coaching staff. It appears that ** does not like playing SS but playing Nickel CB was the reason he didn't "start" all games last season despite playing over 50% of snaps in all games.

If he does not want to play at least part of the time at SS then I don't see the Cowboys trading for him.

My statement of trade Taco for him for just for fun. I don't know why a rebuilding team would want Taco; although the Dolphins don't seem to be the most well managed team in regards to those types of decisions.

Miami is looking to fleece some unfortunate team for Minkah. I just hope it isn't the Cowboys. We already have CBs who can play the slot. What we really need is a quality strong safety, not a slot CB. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if we already have one in Donovan Wilson. All he needs is experience and the opportunity to to fill the need we have at safety. Let's not get antsy for someone who isn't inclined to be "that guy." Minkah wants out of Miami because he dislikes playing safety. This is, mainly, all we need to know.

If he is the odd man out, so be it. It would show they have confidence in their Dline room. Im fine with that because honestly I agree.

So you get Fitz for cheaper than Brown + get a comp pick for Brown.

That's just smart team building.

No. You'd pay Brown a reasonable price and if not, use Lewis to fill the slot position. Giving up a 1st round pick isn't cheap.

Like I said, barring a super rookie year, yes. Not just because of his lack of experience, it's also because first round picks are so valuable, who knows what position you might need next year in the draft? What if T. Smith's back gives out? What if Cooper's foot gets worse? Etc.

I just don't like giving up first round picks, unless you've got a Deion or such out there, a player that's obviously better than what you have. Don't see that Fitzpatrick is that now...

I was thinking Leonard Williams would be the guy I'd like to go for if we were trading a guy in.

I'm thinking 2nd, if that is indeed the price. Brown is going to be expensive and Fitz is probably better. Lewis is FA the year after.

I agree with this. Football is such a mental toughness game that just losing a fraction can greatly diminish your level of play. You put any player in the situation that is Miami right now and their level of play is likely to decrease. That same player could be traded to a solid team, get new life mentally, and be an all pro for the rest of his career.

Culture in an organization is real. It effects performance. Im sure the culture in Miami is horrible the last two years at least.
