But no one here has seen him miss a tackle or blow a coverage while wearing a Cowboys uniform. :muttley:

I wouldn't put a ton of stock in any Dolphin player grade at this point. That team is a dumpster fire and even good players are going to look terrible at times playing for that crap show.

PFF was pretty bullish on him after his rookie year too,I recall, if you buy into PFF. He has flexibility, which we seem to like - was very good in the slot, can cover TEs, etc.

For the right price, he's a no brainer move IMO. I suspect Miami's asking price is way too rich though.

Although I doubt that Dallas is interested especially if the Dolphins are wanting nothing less than a 1st round pick, it could be interesting this week. With Quinn due back on Monday, Dallas will most likely have to move a DL guy so if a trade is going down it probably will be for Taco. Supposedly Dallas is looking for at least a 5th round for Taco which is rumored although I believe that probably want a second but would settle for a third.

In Fitzpatrick, most thought he would be a candidate as a Pro Bowler at FS coming out of college or a great slot corner mainly as his arm length is good not great but is a great cover guy and extremely good tackler. Now if Dallas wants him, it probably is because both Brown and Jones are free agents at the end of the season and Lewis will be in his final year next year. Just me, but I see Dallas eventually signing Jones long term but that is my opinion. Since you would control Fitzpatrick for 4 more years including 2019 it would make sense to do the deal if you could convince Miami to take Taco, Lewis and a 2019 3rd for him and most importantly if Coach Richard wants him. Then if you lock up Jones, your secondary is great for the foreseeable future along with your LB and DL. With the OL locked up and most likely QB and WR soon along with RB pretty obvious that the draft is going to be best player available regards of position (which it should be but often is best available at a position of need) and could be looking at the #1 TE in the draft.

Oh, what dreams are made of!!!

Dallas was extremely high on Fitz last year in the draft if I recall correctly.

One rookie season, unless it's a spectacular one, isn't worth a first, to me, now a second is more like it....

He had a very good rookie season.

A top 11 pick blue chip prospect that played very good in his rookie season, doesnt have his value diminished to a 2nd.

A born leader who wants out? OK.

Anybody whos cares about winning probably does not want to waste good years on a team that is obviously tanking.. so yea he wants out. Not saying we should go for him, but the kid has a gleaming recommendation from Saban. Was always talked about his presence in the locker room. Things like that just dont disappear in a year.

It comes down to price. If they want a first or second rounder for him? That's a no.

If you could get him for Taco and maybe some mid-round pick like a 4th or 5th? Absolutely.

Agreed he's probably playing like crap because he doesn't want to be there. But I wasn't sold on him anyway. He plays good at slot corner and that's really about it. They talk about his flexibility but he isn't really effective elsewhere on the field. Do we need another slot corner he's not going to be better than Jourdan Lewis.

I trust whatever they do will be a good choice. This team is past the years of making bad investments. They are smarter then we are, even if we do not like to admit it all the time.

Yea dallas is giving up taco for a guy who is lesser than both starting safeties we have and hates miami for making him play SS amongst a variety of roles. That makes sense.

Anyone at this point who would willingly choose Jeff Heath over Minkah Fitzpatrick makes me chuckle.

Note, this isn't an endorsement of Fitzpatrick as some sort of safety stud, but he's got more talent than Heath, younger than Heath, a better pedigree than Heath, etc.

I think a 2nd plus Taco could do this.

That may end up happening, but Taco has no value to Miami. At least not enough to change the compensation they would want for Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick still has 3 years of team control left, after this year. Taco has 2 left, but that total is really 1, because no team would pick up his 5th year option at this point.

I agree with this. Football is such a mental toughness game that just losing a fraction can greatly diminish your level of play. You put any player in the situation that is Miami right now and their level of play is likely to decrease. That same player could be traded to a solid team, get new life mentally, and be an all pro for the rest of his career.
