Garrett was here in charge of the offense for more than a decade and didn't ever bother to add some of the wrinkles Moore has in one year.

He gets ZERO credit.
yet he produced several top 10 offenses when he was the OC.... he should haver fired linehan prior to 2018, but then again fate.....we wouldn't have moore as OC and he might have been snatched by someone else.

Yes. He wasn't asked a day or so before the firing and said he "didn't anticipate any changes". The Joneses pushed for Linehan to be fired and rightfully so. Garrett doesn't deserve credit for that, but blame for the idea of keeping him.
actually the story as it goes was Garrett wanted to replace Linehan in 2018, but Jones wanted to keep linehan for continuity sake......

Its also not Garrett's job to announce firings to the media before the team does. If he had jumped the line to do so, the criticism would be that he was out of control and disrespecting the front office.

Even if this is his last year, he leaves the team in a much better place than how he found it. Best coach since Jimmy.
I assumed our Defense would at least start off like last years with ok pass rush and run stopping with good LB play. But they picked up from the rams game and almost got worse. And we have the same players from last season. Maybe Quinn coming in will help but I don’t think 1 player is going to make that much difference.
glim--what causes a defense to go in the tank when you got same people and no injuries?..i am not saying our D is going in the tank...but its not any where near a shutdown D as advertised

the drafting by mcclay and Stephen begn earlier, including the names you just mentioned. but Stephen began to take control of things after the 2015 debacle when garrett and the coaching staff totally fell on their faces. he decided enough was enough. he totally cleaned house on our d-backs getting rid of scando, carr, church and wilcox, bringing in an entirely new group as well as a new coach to teach them. he's turned the wr's into an outstanding group in just two years. I could go on, but why?

"Why" is probably a good question in that situation, yeah. I guess all I'll say about all that is that that's one way of looking at how things went down, at least.

Stephen is probably Jason's biggest supporter in the organization, by the way.

By coming out and saying "there will be no major changes to the coaching staff", Garrett all but clarified that he was not lobbying for any change. If he had, he would have been waiting to see if Jerry was going to listen to him. He obviously never did and was fine with Linehan remaining the OC.

The ONLY other explanation would be that he has absolutely no say or input into who gets hired or fired and since he didn't hear anything, he simply assumed there would be no changes. But I don't believe he has no say.

We were ranked in the top 5 or 10 all of last year until the rams playoff game. We played good offenses and shut them down. The saints game wasn't a fluke to me. But something is wrong somewhere, I don't think they were as good as they were ranked last year. I don't know if our Defense is playing down to teams or what. I know the rams said they could tell from film when they were going to stunt. Maybe the film came out and everyone knows it now. I watched them stunt yesterday and it was bad. When you run between the tackles when we are stunting then it catches then out of position and the LB aren't filling the gaps which is a very big surprise to me after last year. Its putting a lot of pressure on our secondary..

I don't disagree. I think there were internal discussion, but push back from Jones. one thing about Garrett and its an art that I give him a lot of credit. Dealing and working with Jerry is not easy. getting jerry to do the right thing is hard. no coach has been able to do it for more than 4 years and Garrett despite everything has had a lot of influence and has been bowled over just a few times.....
