I think it is silly not to either trade him or cut him, if he isn't going to contribute here then let him do it somewhere. There doesn't seem to be a plan to do anything with him so far.

I don’t think there is much if any interest from other teams. I mean do you give up on a first rounder this quick for a cheap 6th/7th rounder?

Y'all gotta learn to read between the lines. Charlton and Marinelli don't like each other, and Rod got the hammer so Charlton can rot on the bench for all the ball coach cares.

At this point, I favor releasing him tomorrow, apparently, Charlton has zero trade value. DAL FO...just take this L and move on. Next time y'all pick a DL make sure he made plays in college, at least. #97 n #79 didn't do much in college, but they think Today can work miracles, nah.

Taco has given the Cowboys skid marks. They’re done with him. My question is does he still get paid if they cut him? He’s got zero trade value.

Jerry probably wants some of that pie money back...

On May 11, 2017, the Dallas Cowboys signed Charlton to a four-year, $10.02 million contract that includes $7.73 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $5.43 million. He competed with Benson Mayowa, Charles Tapper, and Damontre Moore throughout training camp for a backup defensive end position.

I'd love to know how you can sit down with him before the draft for the interview and walk away feeling good about it.
I've said the exact same thing. Sit down 5 minutes with Taco vs Watt and Hill vs Thornhill and you can tell who is serious about football. Something is wrong with the Cowboys' pre-draft process.

Another Rod Marinelli project.

The Cowboys selected Taco Charlton, not Rod Marinelli. ALL coaches are excited to have players drafted for their position groups. To excoriate Rod Marinelli specifically for him being excited to work with a new young project that was drafted is just stupid.

They're just trying to get him riled up so he'll play like this...

The Cowboys have been pretty stellar overall with their draft process. To judge the Taco pick in isolation isn't a realistic assessment of their "draft process." They just missed it on this guy. That happens. In fact, it happens a lot. The fact that the Cowboys have more hits than misses speaks to the relative health of their "draft process," unless perfection is your standard. I'm giving them a pass and moving on.

As to Taco Charlton, they are required to pay him his full guaranteed salary this year, whether they cut him or not. At some point, he's going to either figure out that if he wants an NFL future, he needs to shut up and work. Or he's going to piss away his career by being petulant, and the Cowboys can afford to let him stew in his juices on the inactive list every game. Since they have to pay him either way, they can hope he'll mature enough to get something out of him this year, either in a trade or in production. Unless they need the roster spot, they can afford to keep him and let him rot away, since cutting him doesn't save them any money.

So then why wouldn't the team want to play him? Is Dorance Armstrong too important on Sundays?

There has to be a reason why despite his best preseason showing he's not active.
How many times has this franchise, played a football game and came away with the trade. What do we actually think. Is going to end up happening with Taco Charlton. Get a draft pick or a player for him

Before I jump on Taco, I really would like to know why the Cowboys are not even activating him? He actually looked decent in the preseason games. And if you wanted to trade him, then why not activate him and let him play a little? Give teams the impression he has value, even if its 3rd or 4th round pick value. By not activating him it sends a message that he is a problem or he can;t play, especially for a team like Dallas that is missing a DE on suspension and not showing much of a pass rush. My guess is Taco will be cut on Wednesday. To think we could have had Watt.

And my next question is, are they doing the same thing to Hill? Hopefully they activate him at some point and get him some plays.

In context of him playing well in the preseason, they have to either be withholding him because they want to trade him and don't want a possible injury thwarting that or because he has done, said or showed something to make the coaches not want to play him. Considering that I don't think injury would be a concern if the team thought he was a good players, I'm going to say it was something he did either during or after the Houston preseason game. Maybe during the game he took himself out when he wasn't really injured or injured badly instead of toughing through. Maybe he was all puffed up about, like "I told you so." Maybe he thought he'd earned the right to start and was lackadaisical in practice. I don't know. It just seems strange that you wouldn't even play the player who looked best for you at end in the preseason.

Of course, the preseason can be misleading. Look at Kerry Hyder. His showing was close to good as Taco's and he hasn't done much when he's been out there the first two regular-season games.
