I think we'd have to go back to the 2014 and 2016 seasons to see what the consensus was then. I'd bet he wasn't very hated during those years.

Not defending him because like others I've been saying for years that he and Garrett lacked creativity. I just think we do a lot of revisionist history when it comes to us being "right again." If being right means we recognized that he needed to go after 2017 and 2018, I think that was pretty easy to see.

Some were calling for his head in 2015, so I guess they deserve some kudos for that, but I can't say their voices were very loud when we were performing well on offense with a rookie QB in 2016.
On the other boards, Linny was not liked much from the start. We hoped he'd be an upgrade from JG, but it soon became apparent it was the same ol' same ol'.

Nobody really liked Linehan all that much. He was a retread coach with connections to an already unpopular HC, and he had a grumpy personality.

That said, the mob on this board is collectively dead wrong about as often as it is accidentally right.
If you're referring to the mob, yeah, I agree. However, they're mostly just repeating some crapp they heard ad nauseum on BSPN.

The small group on here who "get it" have previously beaten up on the org pretty good.

Linehan's biggest supporter was Garrett.

Everytime other coaches dissented with him, they soon went on chopping block.
Garrett was pretty clever there in his support of Linehan, but now he has to fight off Moore.

And Richard.
True, but maybe Garrett has secured his true head coaching position, chemistry, bonding, locker room..
He excels in those respects..
So lets see if he can handle clock management now, that hasn't been a hurdle this season just yet.
He now has a solid presence beneath him that can unseat him, but Garrett might just be in his perfect environment now.
Its a good situation for this team right now, this team is structured to win now, but he is definitely feeling more pressure now
than he ever has.
I said now a lot of times in this post.. dangity.

We are also correct about Garrett also.
He Needs to GO!!
MOORE AND Garrett's way will clash this season just wait!
PS, Moore is getting way too much credit in Garrett's eyes...

I do think Linegan is getting too much blame but I’ve never been a fan. But to me it seems he possibly got handicapped by Garrett’s playbook.

Lamehan needed to go LONG before they canned him....he still isn't working so that should tell you something about his lack of ability to coach in the NFL

It's amazing to me that there is even any sort of debate about it.

The offense has never looked better and the anchor that had weighed things down, held it back, and run it into the ground still can't find work.

It's not hard to figure out if someone is being honest.

I love the difference in the offense so far but I am tempering my enthusiasm just a smidge (really, just a lil) since they haven't played anyone yet (giants, deadskins, now miami)...it was nice of the NFL to set up 3 in-season, pre-season games so that Moore could get his feet wet....now they are soaked - Go KM!

That's a very good point on the level of competition. But to be honest, I'm worried about when it kicks up on the other side of the ball, to the defense. While the offense has been humming and going up and down the field (after some early sputtering starts), the defense hasn't looked impressive to me. I hope that we start to see significant improvement from them.

But back on topic, I've seen more creativity from Moore in two weeks than I have during Linehan's entire tenure.

It seems like when this board gets a strong concensus we are usually right as a group. Linehan obviously was universally hated by most on this board. He is gone and it appears we were right again.

Except for the Zeke haters and those that still want Marinelli.

the thing I noticed about Moore's gameplan is that the bottom line seems to be similar (where they are going with the plays), but he has so many in motion that is confuses the opposing defenses...should see more of that today methinks

agree on the defense

i'm a coach, i know coaching and he's plenty creative. we just aren't executing....it's up to the players to execute a good scheme.

Yeah it's a coincidence Dak magically got better half way through his 4th season when HE said and I quote "it clicked for me" he actually even hinted to being more aggressive due to his confidence. so obviously he was still having some issues. It's a coincidence things turned around when Cooper arrived. It's a coincidence the rookie Gallup who also came on late last season has been talked about by everyone in the organization as wr who worked his butt off in the off-season and has become a legit wr. It's a coincidence that Frederick comes back and the Oline is right back to elite status, it's a coincidence they went 7-1 down stretch last season with your boy Linehan too, also 13-3, Cobb? Nah ain't talent, It ain't executing, by better players, this team has upgraded at every Wr position. Now , did Moore add some cute window dressing to the same stuff they run. brought back the same jet sweep they've been trying to run forever? Sure he did, but game 1 was pretty identical to the game last season, except the defense held them out of the end zone this season. Game 2 pretty much the same as any other games, ran a ton on first down, which has been hated here. I like Moore, but the same here applies if the players don't execute none of it work, and it will happen, and all these same folks will be crying again, actually it already has happened, just look at the game threads in the first quarter. Linehan issue seemed to be his alienation of the players, even he and Garrett had a rift towards the end. 1 other thing it's amazing how these same folks went ballistic when Moore was made the qb coach, I think it was only a few of us who defended him, now these same folks are claiming him the messiah, some of the same folks want him as head coach. He's been good and Dak has a great chemistry with him going back to when they both competed as players. We shouldn't be hearing any crying this year...lol

Linehan started out great. The offense improved simply because Garrett and his pass happy ways were abandoned. We finally had some balance to the offense and saw more 3 and 4 WR formations and WR screens once in a while.

But he too became too predictable, plodding, and lacked aggression. Not sure how much of that was Garrett.

Having a good season or two isn't good enough. You have to evolve once teams figure you out. Neither Garrett or Linehan could do that.

So what is happening now, it's been 2 games and will be 1 season.

The biggest difference I see so far is the Oline is healthy and giving Dak all day and a clean pocket to throw from. He didn't have that last year. Fred's back, Tyranasuarus is healthy and La'il is playing lights out.

Hmmm, much like 2016 huh.
