Cowboys need a dominant defense like the Bears or this one at 27 minutes of video.

Tons of sacks and turnovers, low 3rd down success %, and ability to shut down the run.

Nasty, physical defense that opposing offenses do not want to play.

Ryan -> Kiffin -> Marinelli.

Just embarrassing...

The Jones clan and Garrett have no idea what they're doing with that side of the ball.
I forgot about 97 year old Monte Kiffin coaching during the train wreck

Sure. But that normally develops over the course of a season. We didn’t peak as a defense last season until, like, week 12. Teams develop into contenders over the course of the season.

The success we’re having on offense is going to get countered, too. Eight weeks in, teams will be figuring it out, and we’ll have to adjust or win by out-talenting teams again. Or the defense will start putting it together and actually be a force that the offense just complements.
Personally I just think it's a lack of leadership right now. I think Quinn was a big addition. Not because of his talent because of his attitude. Obviously talent but you know what I'm saying go Cowboys. Real football talk. It's okay to critique without being rude go Cowboys

Why? Because you think you know better than the guys running each and every practice, film session, etc. ?

I'd like to see Lewis too, but if Brown keeps earning his spot in the coaches eyes, I can live with that.
Thank you.

Maybe but it's also possible that Richard favors guys with a certain build regardless of their play. It's no secret Brown fits the mold of a Richard cornerback better than Lewis.

Lewis just seems to make way more positive plays relative to his usage than Brown. And I like Brown.

Rod Marinelli has enjoyed an illustrious career. Reality? He's old and due for retirement. Coach Richard has done some nice work with the DBs, though I am beyond frustrated with his stubborn insistence on Brown over Jourdan Lewis...and the lack of secondary turnovers.

Now look...this coaching duo could prove me wrong in the balance of the season. This post has nothing to do with changes within the next 13 weeks. We may be Super Bowl bound. We might win it all. If that happens...make Richard DC gawd.

If not...Could be time for changes. A new defensive DC...An innovator. Some real changes. What would a defensive equivalent of Kellen Moore look like? I don't think such a guy is inside the organization.

Jerry might ought to give $10 mil for the Bears, Bills, or Ravens DC. That money aint' capped.

Too bad Wade isn't available. But he probably wouldnt work for Garrett.

A Jerry special.

He knew his boy Garrett was still too green so he wanted that wise, old, veteran who understood the ways of the NFL to coach the defense and coax along his wunderkind of a HC.

It had an utterly predictable outcome.

The Cowboys are currently 4 in points allowed.

The Cowboys were 6th in points allowed last season.

In 2017 Brown and Lewis both played around 800 snaps on defense.
Brown 2 INTs in 2017
Lewis 1 INT in 2017

In 2018 Lewis was the starting Nickel CB in 2 games and played Dime against Kamara in the Saints game.
Brown 1 INT in 2018
Lewis 1 INT in 2018

The DL play is holding this team back right now. Tank is under performing, but between Tank and Quinn we should be above average at DE. Our DT play is the elephant in the room. Marinelli needs to be put out to pasture.

I’m not sure what the answer is but we need to change something.

I hate being 3-0!

Why is everybody up in arms against the defense so far? There have been years when it’s been really bad and it’s killed us. This unit has shut bad teams down until garbage time. It can play a lot better, but it should be expected that it will as the season goes on if we stay healthy. It’s a really young group.

I'm not up in arms...but I'm starting to raise a finger.

You can't have a good D w/out sacks and turnovers. I need to see more in the next month or two.

I like though how we assume that there is defensive guru that's just sitting out there lol. Cowboys got lucky with Moore. Don't hold your breathe on them finding another one.

True. I don't think we'll find a great DC hidden under noses. I'd like to see Jerry take some of his cash and lure in one of the top young DCs already in the league. I don't have a name to give anyone, but there's got to be someone who isn't under contract longterm. Perhaps that can't happen this offseason, but the Jones's need to make it a priority.

In fairness, we've played a truly terrible offensive team and two really mediocre to below average offensive teams. So I am not sure there is a ton of value in that stat at this point. We'll know more after the next 2 games, especially the Packers game.

That sounds great until you realize that all of the teams we have played are really bad.

The lowly Dolphins fumbled on the way in to score, missed a chip shot field goal, squandered an onsides kick, and missed a couple of easy throws that had nothing to do with the defense. The stats in this case are not telling the whole story.

For me it's about Swagger. Demarcus Lawrence was standing there disgusted that they were cheering for Quinn after his sack . That seemed to motivate him. Were the only team that has not started inside the opponent's side of the field. You want the other team punting from their 30-40 not then don't break all the way down to our side of the field. For me again it's about Swagger motivation who's the leader of this defense. Because we definitely have the talent
