7 yards per play when passing on first down.

2 yards per rush when running on first down.

The pass was far more successful than the run on first down.

Of course you're going to get more on the pass, you can't simply keep throwing it, you have to mix it up as they did, even if you're not getting 7 yards...lol

There wasn’t a balance though. Despite the horrendous running they ran more on first down than they passed.

Nobody is saying KEEP throwing it. But they ran it more than they passed it.

You didn't answer the question and actually answered something no one has even argued.

So I will ask again. Can a coach have a bad game plan? Can a coordinator make a bad play call or set of play calls or just have a bad game overall from a play calling perspective? Can an opposing coordinator do a better job of play calling where he's found ways to exploit what you are doing?

Or is this all impossible? That every play call is essentially perfect.

No a coach can't exploit it. If your players execute, a game is won by the team that execute it's gameplan the best . In the end it all comes down to player execution

Again.

So coaches don’t matter. Which means you’re just a useless bystander on the sidelines at the games you coach?

That doesn't matter, that's our identity, that's those 2 yards are the dirty yards you need to keep them honest to keep the play action alive.

I didn't say tlwe are useless, but we know every week, that the team that execute the best will win .

Actually. Based on what you just said. The gameplan doesn’t matter. So really they could just pass the ball 100% of the time and as long as the players execute, they will win.

So for clarification, a coach/coordinator can never have a bad game plan or call a bad play or set of plays?

You seem to be dancing around answering this specific question.

Further, are you saying a coordinator can't see some tendencies the other team is showing and call specific plays to try to take advantage of that?

I said the gameplan doesn't matter if the players don't execute. You can have the best drawn up plan, if you can't carry it out it doesn't matter. A missed blocked kills a play, a drop pass kills a play, a penalty, fumble. Everything we had tonight

Of course they did, plays are always left on the field but he isn’t gonna say yeah the game plan was too conservative

He lives in an either/or world.

Actually there is no either/or in his world. It is always, without doubt, 100% the fault of the players when a team loses or a play doesn't work.

And we are asking you to admit the converse, which is that you can have the worst plan drawn up and it can drag a teams ability to win down. Despite the players ability to execute.

But you won’t admit that.

I am admitting that poor execution will ruin “the best gameplan”.

But you even mentioning that there is a “best gameplan” means there are poor gameplans. And it stands to reason that poor gameplans make it harder for the players to execute and win.

So if the Cowboys threw every single first down, that's fine, as long as they "execute"?

11 minutes to go and the Saints pick up a holding penalty that puts them in a 1st and 20.

An elite defense doesn't allow a team with a backup QB to get that first down. But we did. And allowed the Saints to basically chew 5-6 minutes off the clock.

I hate how we play defense at times in certain situations. I know, we are effective, but we are too conservative for our own good at times.

1st and 20, we give up 6 yards on a screen. Not bad. But then the next play is what drives me ******* crazy with Richard and Marinelli. We drop into our patented deep zone and give up an easy 8 yard pass to a TE with no one around him. That gives the Saints a manageable 3rd and 6.

We don't seem to challenge any short passes. We seem content to just sit back, give the completion and hope Smith, LVE, Lee or Thomas come up, make the tackle and we live to see another day. Good teams will exploit that and take the 6-7 yards and just work their way down the field against us.

Just a rant about a particular part of the game that frustrated me. You can't give up a first down in that situation. Just can't.

LOL...man when you hold the other team to 12 points in there house the defense is NOT your problem here!!!
Jeez what do you want the Bears 85 or Ravens 2000 defense is that what you're looking for?
If so then cut Coop and most of our offline to have the Cap to build your defense.

It doesn't matter what tendency you see on film, if your players don't execute to take advantage of it. You don't think that was a tendency they saw with Witten on the catch ? Only problem Witten fumbled, that's execution, Cooper got two big OPI on Nov catches, that's execution, the oline was constantly whipped all night, that's execution.

Welp I guess 32 owners that are billionaires are getting scammed having coaches/coordinators since it’s solely on the players. Get rid of quality control, analytics and film breakdown since it’s all solely based on the players.

But yet if the players execute it , you can win. Just like the Saints did tonight with their 4 fgs
