If you think Dak is remotely close to Romo in skill and talent...

Simply look at the team DAK was handed. He is loaded with talent everywhere. Granted Romo did have a couple solid teams 2 years

Coaching has been the issue for the longest time. The main underlying issue. Doesnt matter who you put in as QB

Everywhere on paper until the game starts.

The poor starts and atrocious defense is eerily similar to the Romo years. I swear Garrett is going to ruin yet another core of players.

That is my fear, and why I think the sooner Garrett is gone the better. Garrett has killed a lot of careers (and I think I listed them a while ago) of players that were here and great players. This is the most talented roster that he's ever had. He's had a longer tenure than most coaches have. He's in a contract year. If Garrett can't pull it off now, I don't think he ever will. I think he might be better in a place like Miami or Cincinnati. He's a good mind, and he's good at getting teams at least relevant. He's great at keeping the players from giving up when the going is rough.

However, do i think he can get a team over the hump to deep playoff runs? No. But, a team like Miami or Cincinnati would probably be pleased to have someone like him to return them to relevance. I think he'd actually fit well in Cincy with Dalton.

And I say this all to say. If we were a team that felt success to be a playoff appearance like Miami, Cincinnati, or the Arizona Cardinals, then Garrett would be the perfect coach for us. However, I think we know that we have a better team than we let on. We have more firepower than most would have. The problem is that Garrett has never been an overachiever. He's a great motivator. Just not good at getting us where we need to be. He did well to get us back to relevance. However, we are not irrelevant anymore. We can be more than we are now. We have firepower. We need a coach, not a motivator.

It's going to be even worse than the Romo Era. Romo had durability concerns, which meant the team was going to pick Top-10 in the next draft if he missed the rest of the season. That's how we got Tyron in 2011 and the players in the 2016 Draft. Dak is durable, he will keep playing all 16 and we will always win just enough to never have a high pick. This team is built with Dak to always win 8 games a year minimum

He won't be so durable if this line keeps failing him like it did today and against New Orleans. If we aren't careful, this season could go very South. Especially with the teams we have up next after the Jets and the defences that have.

Hell Dak only needs 1 more playoff win to match Romo
:muttley:
The GREAT Romo was 2-4 in postseason play in 10 years. What is that, 1 first-round playoff win every 5 years????
Dak might do what Romo accomplished in half the time.
Now Romo is the great announcer. That's Romo. All talk and little accomplished on the field.

Oh, yes, matey, I had forgotten. Romo was a diamond surrounded by garbage.
So was Emmitt. The diff is Emmitt has 3 Super Bowl rings and Romo has 2 career playoff wins and a participation ribbon.

And I don’t like it. I feel like I’ve already seen this career played out. Putting up good yardage and losing. Then when we lose people will say well Dak didn’t have a good team around him. I just don’t know what to think anymore with this team. We’re having game losing mistakes by our best players, Witten,Elliott, Cooper, Dak. Thats the sign of a team that’s full of themselve. I actually want to be more conservative and run the football. We abandoned the run after the first drive which is disgustin. We just paid an RB 90 million dollars and don’t even use him. This coaching staff is so bad.

We are scoring points under Dak. Romo’s offenses were consistently in the top ten in points per drive meaning we scored points under Tony too.

The only conclusion from this is your QB comparison leading you to feel the way you do is misguided. You’re looking in the wrong place.

The real question you should be asking yourself Is why are we the same under both quarterbacks? What’s the common thread?

The answer is simple.

Coaching.

That should be a good thing according to so many Dallas fans, right? All I hear about is how great Romo was and how great he would be with this group. :muttley:

Dak is just in his 4th season while Romo is already retired. Comparing finished Romo to Dak is silly but looking at the first 4 years in both of their careers Dak is just as good as Romo if not better.

By the way this myth that Dak has been loaded with talent is silly. Dak had a team that was 4-12 the year before with the same players minus him and Zeke. OL was good.... key word, was. Not only that he doesn't even have the same receivers from his first 2 years. Witten coming back or he wouldn't even have the same TEs and yet Dak still wins. Doesn't mean he isn't going to win every game but this myth needs to stop. Dak helps his players just like they help him

Dak isn’t even 1/10th as good as Eastern Illinois Romo... please stop embarrassing yourself and the board with your ridiculous takes. After 4 years Romo was one of the best QBs in the league; Dak is a dink and dunk QB who is quickly running out of tomato cans on the schedule to beat up.
Take your meds and go to bed; you’re still hallucinating that the 31-3 score translated to a barn burner.

I don’t anymore. He’s 11-13 vs teams with winning records. Change the coaching staff and give him 2 more years if we don’t win anything time to move on.
I pointed this out during the off season and was attacked. I even provided context back to his Mississippi state days and was ganged up on by his cheerleading section. He is what he is. For all the crap many on here give Mahomes the guy was a Dee Ford mental error from the Super Bowl in year two.
