The Jets game was an aberration; these Cowboys are better than most think

Look, this last game was just unusual: Penalties, injuries, dropped passes, missed FG's. Everything that could go wrong; did go wrong. And it was frustrating!

We lost to "some darn old" QB...Errr I mean "SAM DARNOLD" QB.

But, you have to give the Jets credit. They had a sound game plan and came to play.

Now: Why do I call it an aberration?

If you would have made last weeks picks based on the higher ranked teams from Aikmans efficiency ratings you would have lost only 2 games.

http://aikman.com/AikmanEfficiencyR...man-Efficiency-Ratings-2019-As-of-Week-5.aspx

The Two Exceptions:

1. Cowboys ranked at #3 lost to the Jets ranked at #30 (This is unusual)

2.
Bucs ranked #14 lost to the Panthers ranked at #15 (This is not unusual. These two teams were ranked barely apart in overall efficiency).

THE SHIP ISN'T SINKING!

We have an efficient team which equals success. Aikman has it right!

With that being said: I want to see them play as a TEAM. NEVER play as individuals.

In the JG era losing to even thmore worst team is not an aberration, ever, not is beating the best team. What is an aberration in the JG era is winning in the playoffs and being significantly different from .500.

When healthy, playing up to our potential, and with neutral officials; I would agree that this is a very good team.

Agreed, we at least need Tyron and Cooper back for this Eagles game.

But where do we find those neutral officials? I've been complaining about that since the Dolphins game.

Maybe we can have our special teams pick-pocket those yellow flags from them before the game. We can kill two birds with one stone. We can make our special teams special again. And the refs won't have any yellow flags to throw in their fantasy phantom-call world.

Sorry, but you are what your record says you are.

Moral victories and "we are not really this bad" is what losers tell themselves to help them sleep at night.

And yes, the ship is sinking...……...take a look at the schedule...…its the hardest remaining schedule in the NFL with 8 of the last 10 against teams that are .500 or better.

Patience is a virtue. If the internet existed during the beginning of the Tom Landry era:

Well, for Landry's first nine seasons:

Landry was well below .500, had several losing seasons, made the playoffs 3 times and never got to the SB. And then greatness was born.
JG is above .500, had only 1 losing season, made the playoffs 3 times and never got to the SB. Yet.

Just saying that in today's world; everyone wants instant gratification.

That Landry fella turned out to be a great one!

Sometimes, you just never know.

I looked ahead at our schedule. It will be difficult for those other teams to win against us. As long as we can get and stay healthy.

We are bottom of the league in all special teams categories and starting field position. We're bottom of the league in drops from receivers, holding penalties on offense, 1st quarter scoring, 1st half scoring, interceptions on defense. We are middle of the pack in sacks and run defense.

We also have the toughesst remaining schedule in the NFL. We are not a good team and we're not making the playoffs.

Yeah, I think AdamJT found that stat (field position). Where has he been anyways?

Drops have to be taken care of, several penalties are just bizarre, and the Cowboys D needs to get more sacks and turnovers. Maybe someone can put rear view mirrors on our DB's helmets for those interceptions?

Clean those things up and we'll be sailing to the playoffs. We aren't sinking.

Before the season I said we needed the OLINE to be top 5 to compete that was figuring on defense as good or better than last year , Zeke not appearing to be dragging an anchor and fair officiating . A consistent kicker would also be a plus

We have nothing but Dak standing in there delivering balls to guys hearing footsteps while he is getting planted for his trouble along with Witten and Zeke fumbling in the same game.
We have a confused frustrated team with no coaching guidance to get them on track

Can this be right?

2 In offense and 9 in D??

Maybe we can turn it around. 6 games is a pretty decent sample size. Nearly half the season complete.

Cut down the real penalties. Hope the fake ones will not be called as much. Make the makable field goals. Maybe even get a few turnovers and we can show what many thought we were.

Even the most real of realist must see there has been some real bull**** going on. Probability says it can’t stay like that. Probably

Saints
Elliott none fumble
Roughing on Lawrence while he was pushed low
5 second play that took 2 seconds.
2 offensive pi s on Cooper both Bull****

Packers

Smith fake injury result in 6-8 time outs
Erin throwing ball at feet after losing it
Cobb interfered with-grabbed on his wrist
Graham fake interference
Brown pi without contact
Roughing on Quinn .1 after release
No holds again all game after Rodgers chastised ref on a clear hold first drive.
Garrett unsportsmanlike
Hold on Tavon that was not close and moved from first and goal to long field goal range.
Taunts allowed on Dak and DB on run.

Jets.

Unreal pick play call takes away 4 points
Garrett stupid 4th down attempt vs low scoring team
Garrett missed two easy low five attempts he normally makes demoralizing the team
I was under the influence I may have missed some others.

We’re on a 3 game losing streak and you’re calling the last loss an “aberration?”

This is an average football team and their 3-3 record supports my claim. They haven't done anything on the field that contradicts that notion, their wins have come against teams that have more losses than wins.
