What Amari Cooper has meant to Dak and this team

I also was against the trade, mainly because at the time I was hoping to trade up for an elite qb. I still don't think Dak is elite but I think he's good enough and he's obviously been working hard both physically and mentally to be a better qb. I think he'll keep grinding and improving.

How many QBs are “elite”? 3? 5? Romo was never considered “elite” outside of Cowboys fans. All I care about is can you win with a QB. Dak is a guy that’s good enough to win playoff games with. There have been guys with less ability than Dak that have won rings.

I’m way more worried about coaching and the fool in the owners box than QB.

....my first thoughts on the Cooper trade was, who? ..lol.. The guy hardly did nothing over that merit attention. By then it was too late, Cooper was coming to Dallas.

I just trusted that Jerry did the right thing. In a weird kinda way, it felt like Jerry would get this one right. ..

I like Cooper, the trade was definitely the right move to make. Smooth crisp routes, a fully developed route tree with no shortage of fruit. His arrival has definitely increased the harvest yield of both team and Prescott.

He, and all receivers are starting to grow. The offensive line played a really strong game against a good defensive front in the Eagles. The receivers made their secondary give up tight completions.

.....and for all this adoration heaped on Cooper, (whom I like) some of us were ready to scrap him after the Saints game and his pedestrian 48 yards receiving. Read the game thread and you'd be surprised how fast he was turned on.........of course alot of it had to do with coming to Dakota aid and support for just generating 1 Td the entire game

I was firmly in the camp of no more trading away first round picks for WRs. If only the Galloway and Roy Williams trades worked out as good as this one. Cooper has been a flat out beast and bring a level of professionalism that has been somewhat lacking. Can't imagine why Oakland was ever willing to trade this guy.

Dak is probably enough to win given the culture around him is near perfect. I certainly see Dak as improved this year. I’d sign him.

Problem is , our situation isn’t always perfect .And having a great front office and coaching staff isn’t a reality. He’s going to need to be great enough to overcome.

Cooper was the polar opposite of Dez who Dak was never comfortable with having to throw the ball up for grabs and hope he came down with it . Cooper made Dak comfortable and confident . It was really a stark contrast to me .

Cooper seems like a team guy , happy to be a Cowboy and with his teammates . No drugs or off field problems , no Diva mentality or outbursts . A win all the way around IMO.

I’m concerned he wants to stay in Dallas. He knows he’s going to fetch top dollar . And in no hurry to sign appearing content to wait. Wonder if he’d be interested in going elsewhere?

I’ve been somewhat surprised that Jerry and Stephen haven’t been more aggressive in trying to sign this guy. Maybe they have and Coop’s advisors know it’s better for him financially to wait. But this FO is not one with a track record of “winning” these type of situations financially IMO. The sooner you sign a star, the more money you save.

I actually believe it’s a greater possibility he’d go to highest bidder especially if it’s a more serious contender and Elite QB.

Why stay here especially if we stumble this year and or we have turnover in coaching and Daks situation isn’t resolved, etc.

And it might not have to be highest bidder. It might simply be a more serious contender and less drama than Cowboys .

Dak and Cooper are both critical to each other's success. The notion that cooper essentially 'made' Dak is false. Dak had one of the best rookie seasons ever at qb. Prior to getting cooper, the receiving corps was awful. Dak's numbers improved significantly when Cooper came, but so did Cooper's. He wasn't looking all that great in Oakland, which is why they were willing to part with him for a first rounder only.

Having top 5 players at QB, WR and RB is fantastic. Even better when the O line is healthy. Plus, we're getting production from our TE's. Gallup and Cobb are also very good and make plays.

Cooper makes you forget all of the nonsense our last "No.1" WR brought. He's elite.

This could be a better offense than we had in 2014 which I thought if we’d a better defense could have made a deeper run.

It’s yet to be seen if this defense can elevate itself. Sunday night was a better indication. But I’d agree when we have all of our talent on offense it appears to be Top 5.

It will be interesting to see how it fares against the more serious contenders coming up. We were hoping to see against Saints and Packers but we didn’t have everyone healthy.

Agreed - this offense is very good when fully healthy. It's extremely disappointing that it looks as though they won't get enough help from the coaching, defense, and STs for that to matter in the long run.

I think the defense is better than 2014, BUT it's been the main reason we've lost and had some closer games to better offenses (Saints & GB) - due to inconsistency. IMO
I agree that when we're healthy the team overall is just a better unit. If we go out and put a beating on NY, it's a good way to build momentum as we approach the stronger contenders.
