What Amari Cooper has meant to Dak and this team

I’m a Dak fan. I think he’s undervalued by most fans on this site. But that’s not what this thread is about. What this thread is about is how incredibly valuable Amari Cooper has been to this team and specifically for Dak.

Let’s look at the evidence....

After Sunday night’s game against Filly, the Cowboys have now played 16 regular season games with Amari Cooper. When the trade was made last mid-season, this team was 3-4 and even lost their first game with him. But after what is the equivalent of a full regular season (16 games), all you have to do is look at what Dak has accomplished in those 16 games with Coop.

THE 16 GAMES AFTER THE COOPER TRADE
Record: 11-5
Dak’s Numbers: 26 TDs-10 INTs, 4,591 yards. I remember Dak being criticized on these boards because “he doesn’t have the stats.” Now he does. And more importantly, this team is 11-5 since Coop arrived.

I was dead wrong about the Cooper trade. I said last October that it was a mistake that would haunt us. Sometimes it’s really good to be wrong.

Now if we can just find a better HC....LOL!

I'll be honest, I didn't like the move at first for a first. I thought we had a lot of needs and I just thought Dak was an average QB. It's like trading for an ace in baseball. It makes your current poor #1 wr a good #2 wr and so on. He has been awesome. I'd argue he is the 2nd or 3rd most valuable player for Dallas (toss up between him and Tyron). Amari was in a bad fit in Oakland.

And like with Elliott, should we sign Cooper before Dak?

And he’s proven to be tough. He’s played through some injuries as he showed Sunday night....all season in fact with his off season plantar fasciitis and then his recent quad problem.

I was all for getting Cooper, no problem with the trade at all. I went to the Skins game last year where the Boys were trying to spit Zeke out wide. Zeke can catch the ball out of the backfield but he's not an NFL caliber WR. So we have Allen Hurns as our #1 , trying WR by committee and splitting Zeke out wide. This team needed a # 1 type receiver and Amari was available.

I also was against the trade, mainly because at the time I was hoping to trade up for an elite qb. I still don't think Dak is elite but I think he's good enough and he's obviously been working hard both physically and mentally to be a better qb. I think he'll keep grinding and improving.

I like Cooper, the trade was definitely the right move to make. Smooth crisp routes, a fully developed route tree with no shortage of fruit. His arrival has definitely increased the harvest yield of both team and Prescott.

Last year no for sure. If we have a conservative game plan the answer is no. If we open it up I think so. They are better with Amari no doubt. He and Dak just connect. I think it's a perfect match.

Some WR's and QB's just naturally connect. Romo couldn't connect with WR Roy Williams. Romo did connect with WR Terrell Owens. I write this just to let some know that a QB/WR connections are very valuable and both must be kept at all cost. So if we have to lose Byron Jones then so be it.

We need that Dak and Coop connection to succeed.

I never said they aren't as good without Cooper. Please don't put words in my mouth. I just think they could win certain games without him if needed. It would be much much harder to. Dak survived for a stretch in 2016 without Dez. Don't get me wrong I love Zeke but seeing this explosive offense I think Amari is more valuable and should have been paid before Zeke. I want all 3 though.
