Some will try to spin this away. But in the last week we have found out he got sent home from practice, fell asleep in team meetings, now almost missed the team plane and even Marinelli has admitted he has issues.

No matter how you want to slice it, it's not good. And what makes it worse was these were THE PRECISE RED FLAGS THAT HOUNDED HILL LEADING UP THE DRAFT and why teams reportedly had lower round grades on him.

But once again, we thought ourselves to be the smartest dudes in the room led by Marinelli.

Exactly....

his coaches didnt like him,he was benched as a starter. That should have been a big red flag but we drafted him because Marinelli thought he could coach him up.

To be fair, the Coaching Staff at UCF actually changed over while Hill was there. Scott Frost was his HC when he came to UCF. Josh Heuple was his HC when he left and so the story was that he didn't mesh with the new staff. I don't doubt that at all but that was the reasoning given for his benching. It was never talent, that kid has talent. He just seems to not have the rest. Damn shame too. He could be a great player if he got his Chat together.

Mo was worthy of being a starter on a bad team when healthy.

Hill doesn’t belong in the league even as a backup right now

Your right. However, Mo wasn't worth that high of a draft pick. He was sold as the next Deion and never lived up to it.

I still don't like that pick because we could have gotten better players with that selection.

Tired of these project and drafting head cases with red flags base on talent. The same thing with these always injured players. What you got in college is what you get in the pros. Start drafting healthy, goal oriented players who love football.

Our wasted bust so far that had flags in college.

- Randy Gregory
- Taco Charleston
- Trystin Hill

Those are three picks way too many !!! I'm not even going to say anything about the prior picks.

Did Frost recruit him? It probably was a case where Frost had a relationship with him and was willing to let him slide whereas Heupel came in, had no relationship and didn't like the laziness and other off the field stuff.

Gregory makes sense to me. He was a Top 10 talent sitting there in the 2nd round.

It can be argued that Hill and Charlton were both possibly drafted earlier than they should have. That was never the case with Gregory in terms of talent.

I'll take that risk every day - Gregory. The other two? Not very smart IMO.

If Mickey's involved my guess is that the team has been given their orders.

In order for the decision makers to save face on what looks like an awful decision so far, they are going out of their way to scapegoat this kid.

Don't get me wrong, he needs to take a ton of ownership with his issues, but the decision to draft him should end people's careers. Bad picks happen, the reasons and justifications given for this particular pick were colossally bad and reflect poorly on the Front Office.

Note what position they all play. And also how hard it is to find these guys.

Taco and Hill were taken because they didn’t think there was any draftable talent at the position behind them and Gregory was probably similar that they had to tolerate his risk because there wasn’t a dynamic player behind him without issues.

DL seems like if you don’t find guys in the top 20 picks you’re SOL

Gregory was a pot head. This dude only played 2 seasons while drafted. Where is Gregory right now? Dude was a wasted pick.

People laugh when Garrett says this but it’s really true you need players that love football. Hill probably fell out of love with football at UCF and just said whatever he needed to to get drafted to get his $.

a rookie contract is still life changing money for 98% of the world if you don’t blow it

You get called out in the media for 2 incidents of laziness and you STILL are late. Either he wants to be cut or he has altitude issues of not understanding

What does this say about our staff? 2 of our last 3 first picks in the draft won't pan out. Taco and Hill. And now Taco looks really good with Miami. And we wonder why we have no real depth. We passed on TJ Watt for Taco and we passed on safety help for Hill. Marinelli pushes hard for these guys, too. He's useless.

Frost certainly did more to recruit him then Heupel did but who can say what or how much Frost did? I mean, Hill originally committed to Georgia Tech, I believe, then flipped to Virginia and ended up signing with UCF. I don't know what the story was with this kid but he's been all over the map pretty much everywhere.

Other teams find talent elsewhere and avoid the bs players.

No draftable talent? What do you call TJ Watt? In a 3-4, he's pretty much a DL player. Marinelli pushed hard for Taco and Hill. And now look. Hill was nowhere near a 2nd rd talent. Taco was nowhere near a 1st. That is a lot of wasted draft resources, because our senile old DC wants his way.

I never really understood a 2nd round pick for a non starter DT from a low level school. His stats weren't that great at all and I wasn't impressed with his tape, which I never even saw until after we drafted him....That because I had never heard of him..

The Cowboys GM should be fired for this pick!
