Why isn't Blake Jarwin Starting?

This still crawls up my skin that we are starting Jason Witten who is slow as snail over Blake Jarwin...Just the stats say what I am talking about from this game. This Jason Garrett-Jason Witten buddy crap needs to stop.

Jason Witten 8 receptions for 58 yards 0 TDs

Blake Jarwin 1 reception for 42 yards 1 TD..
Jarwin is too fast nd doesnt block like Witten. They value blocking over receiving. They want Witten clones. I love Witten and think he's playing well enough to sneak into a pro bowl if he gets 2 or 3 100 yard games, but Jarwin should see the field more. I'd use Gallup more as a big play threat. He should get targets. Cooper needs 10-12. Witten needs 6 and Jarwin needs 5.

I’ve always compared to Witten to Cal Ripken Jr.

Ripken had some really good individual seasons but also racked up a lot of numbers by way of just simply playing a long time.

The Cowboys idea that Jarwin deserves just one or two targets per game is pure BS.
How about allowing this player the proper amount of respect that he's earned?

You’re sincerely dim aren’t you, lol?

Kelce’s has averaged 12.9 YPC on 459 receptions. Ebron has averaged 11.8 YPC on 270 receptions.

Witten hasn’t even averaged double digit YPC since 2014, lool.

You do know they have Witten starting right? So how dumb are you to then ask ”why is he (Jarwin) not getting any other catches other than the few he is?”
9.4 is pretty close to double digits, and really not that far from Ebron's average. The difference would only matter if it was 3rd and 10, when you think about it. As I said, I'm all for Jarwin getting more opportunities, (assuming he's not getting them, but just isn't taking advantage) but Dak needs a safety valve, and there may not be a more consistent one in the league than Witten.

ahhh. hate to tell you dimmy!@!! you are so angry and wanting to respond by just reading the first few words in my response and started typing.

you just reiterated my point..... you are comparing Jarwin's average to Kelce, Ebron…..those guys are great TEs with 10 times the number of receptions Jarwin has had. just because jarwin AVERAGES 12 yards, you can't compare him to Kelce and Ebron...those guys are primary targets...Jarwin has succeeded as a 4th or 5th option, as a 1st option he will struggle.... he has had opportunities...plenty of plays he has been in, and yet in two+ years he has all of 39 receptions.....

this wasn't about Witten!!!

OMG...you can't be this dense!!!!

and value route running too....can jarwin make the routine 10 yard catch? can he run anything besides the seam route? can he get open against better LBs and safties in the league? evidence suggests not yet.

It only took a few words for me to understand how ignorant you are on the topic.

Enjoy your $14/hr job in Houston, loool!

He caught a dump-off in the flat and went 47 yards for the score, looool.

Witten would have been tackled after 8 yards.

I watch witten play and he is easily bottom 10 in starting TE's in the nfl. His blocking is meh and has been for years. He's also one of the slowest ppl on the field. It was a mistake to bring him back. We should have tried to make a trade for OJ howard at the deadline

If a boxer has a great left uppercut he waits for the right opportunity to use it. If you don't set up your power punches with the jab, they are not as effective. If you lead with your uppercut or throw it too often, your opponent will key on it and make you pay.

Witten is a jab. Jarwin is an uppercut.

I completely get that analogy, but the uppercut has to be thrown more than once or twice every boxing match to give it a chance to land.

In a explosive offense with speed outside. Shocking stats.

Travis Fredrick could put up those stats.

What has been left on the table.
yet, he has better stats than 21 other starting TEs...hmmm

I am not defending Witten. I am just laying out facts....we have been wanting to upgrade the TE position for years...but Witten isn't as bad as the Hate-Witten crowd makes him out to be.. and Jarwin isn't all that, perhaps maybe someday he will be a good serviceable starting TE, but he is far from being one today...he is a role player at this point and he does well in his role...

When you’re talking about volume (receptions) and averages, the difference between 9.4 and 13.8 is large. For Witten’s average to be below 10 yards it means he’s catching a lot of passes that go for way less than 9 yards.

I think I echo a lot of what others have been saying on the thread; I’m fine with Witt on the team because he serves as the team’s best/most trusted blocker at TE, but in terms of the pass game we need to find a way to get Jarwin more involved as a receiver.

And before anyone trots out the argument “well, if Jarwin was better then he should beat out Witt,” remember, this is the same coaching staff that’s been sitting Jourdan Lewis for Anthony Brown, starting Jeff Heath, and had Byron Jones playing at safety because they thought he couldn’t play corner.
