. Would you take Jared Goff or Carson Wentz / Prescott.?

Both in a Texas Heartbeat......I know you're happy after last night LOSS and I stress the word Loss cause Dak finally had a franchise-type performance.
It's pretty clear your priorities are Dak then the Cowboys.
GL with that and ask for a raise from Dak's PR dept.
Bye for now....

To be fair he's still playing on his rookie deal ;)

Has yet to make a splash winning performance in the playoffs.

And for some reason  JJ has yet to ink him to a new contract.

Maybe you should deliver your concerns to the front office.

As a guy who liked Romo, this has little to do with it. Our coaching is a busted hamstring.

Define "franchise" quarterback?

This is how I define it.
In the prime of your quarterback's career, if your team had the first pick of the draft and a blue-chip quarterback were available at your pick, are you so secure in your quarterback's ability to lead your team to a title that you would pass up drafting that next stud?

Peyton Manning? Yes
John Elway? Yes
Troy Aikman? Yes
Joe Montana? Yes
Tom Brady? Yes
Aaron Rodgers? Yes
Patrick Mahomes? Yes
Dak Prescott????
Not a bad definition of an elusive term. The answer with Dak is obviously “no”. The recent salary structure wasn’t around for some of those guys though. Heck I don’t even know how many teams would sign Dak in free agency for any price when they could draft their own cost controlled QB who has more talent than Dak and a shot at a much higher (and lower) ceiling as well. Back in the day, the financial cost of the rookie QBs was just as enormous as the draft cost.

I watched the game. I think in both respects they were pretty even. You haven't even given a stance, reasoning, or any evidence for your ridicule. So what is your opinion?
Now that I've diffused from Monday mornings after a Cowboys loss..

There was a gap in both Dak and Kirk's play, with Dak being ahead.

Kirk efficiently managed the game, but he only had 2 passes cross 10 yards. He didn't have to do much. Dak balled out to the point he looked like the best player out there, right there with Dalvin Cook and Amari Cooper.

In total QBR, Dak was 2nd with an 85.0 and Kirk was 4th with 77.8 so far this week. And thats with Dak's int at the end that dinged him. This may not come out in an initial stat line though. What is shown is that Kirk's leading receiver was Dalvin Cook taking into account around 40% of his yards.

The stats and eye test both showed that Dak was head and shoulders above Kirk Cousins. I did not think they were even at all. One pushed the ball down the field and the other didn't. Kirk played good, Dak was better.

And who had the ball last. Elliott Elliott Elliott. He had the opportunity to win the game. Nope you're ran sideways trip. Ran sideways spun and got tackled. Everybody blaming the offensive line. I don't use it for an excuse for Prescott I'm not using it for an excuse for Elliott
Ya perhaps they paid the wrong person lol. J/S

I still do not understand why people rely on comparing stats of one quarterback to another on various teams.

They do not have the same offensive line.

They do not have the same running back.

They do not have the same receivers.

They do not have the same defense.

They do not have the same coaching.

I have said this before but it's like comparing Formula One drivers in different cars.

Would Lewis Hamilton have won six World Championships if he was driving a Williams? Obviously not.

Would Sergio Perez have won a World Championship if he was driving a Mercedez over the past six years in place of Lewis Hamilton? Most likely yes and probably more than one.

Would Tom Brady have won six Superbowls at the Cleveland Browns? Obviously not.

Would Aaron Rodgers have won more than one Superbowl if at the New England Patriots? Obviously yes.

So I ask myself this question - what record would I expect a franchise quarterback in his fourth year to have on this Dallas Cowboys roster?
Even with this coaching, given that the QB is a fourth year starter, and, not a rookie so should have the ability to read extensive defensive coverages and audible at the line of scrimmage, then I would be expecting us to be 7-2.

There have been issues with the defense and the coaching etc but I would still expect a franchise quarterback to have won two games vs the Saints, Packers, Vikings and especially the Jets.

So that's why for me the jury is still out on whether Prescott is a franchise quarterback.

If you consider me to be a moron then that is your prerogative.

But they weren't even. Cousins had a running game to help him out and he was asked to do a lot less. His stats are largely inflated because the screen pass was so effective. Cousins only completed 6 passes to WRs, Dak completed 21. The Cowboys had 24 1st downs, and none of them were by running the ball.

In that game, Kirk Cousins benefitted from something Dak enjoys all too infrequently: good game-planning and play-calling.

Against the bottom-feeders, Garrett/Moore are aggressive; against the better teams, they employ a play-not-to-lose approach.

I’d like to see what Dak could do with an offensive coaching staff that consistently (please reread: CONSISTENTLY) game-plans to maximize all his abilities and those of his offensive weapons.

All else being equal, I’ll take Dak over Cousins any day.

In a perfect world - Dak is able to leave Dallas. Preferably go to the Commanders and win a Super Bowl. All this while Dallas goes on a 3-4 win per season run. Jerry is exposed as the fraud that he is and is forced to sell the team. Maybe Jerry ties one on and harasses a local waitress with someone filming it. That plus the fan revolt would actually sink the guy. Pure catharsis. Only then will the Dallas Cowboys be saved.

That would be in a perfect world.

Thats the thing. We look good on paper. Actually we look great. I think either we have overrated our roster and/or they are underperforming.

come on mods, is the insults allowed? does he need to create a thread to insult people who disagree with him? even tho i agree about Dak, this is uncalled for to start a thread insulting the posters. Can we get something done here. Unacceptable that you cant talk facts about how bad the team is, but a pro Cowboy insult thread is allowed. Disgusting.

He has turned into a pretty good QB. Would you take Goff or Wentz over him at this point? I wouldn't. Dak needs better coaching, well the whole team does.
