There a several good HC candidates available and not disputing that. But do you trust Jerry to hire a legit HC? History has shown he will not.
Anything is better than mediocre! Mediocre is like ground hog day. Nothing ever changes. Garrett has hung around so long because he is mediocre! Mediocre does not win Championships or especially Superbowls!!!!

Garrett will not be fired he is the next GM everyone says Jerry needs to hire its a coming
Plausible. It may be that Jerral doesn't plan to let Garrett go after the season. He "promotes" him to the Executive Suite where his "skills" can be used, would be the statement, when he hires the next HC he is "comfortable with.". Garrett also maintains a relationship with Princeton, and he may chuck it and leave to associate with the athletic dept there.

The organization has been laying the groundwork to get rid of him for a while. No extension. A few critical comments from Jerry. The talking heads are now turning on the staff. Etc.

I think that the only thing that gets him an extension is getting to the NFC championship game. Its to the point where its pretty obvious.

The more surprising talking point to me is that Jerry might totally clean house. The defensive and offensive coordinators have not acquitted themselves well. Everyone might go. Kellen Moore isn't the golden child anymore. Kitna might be the only guy who stays.

Go 0-fer the rest of the season and Garrett, Moore and the rest of the O-staff are history.

Anything above that, Jerry might (?) find an excuse to keep him.

After watching all the stupid ridiculous coaching decisions by Garrett last night, then watching two well coached teams play, SF vs Seattle, there is NO WAY this team will ever win a Super Bowl with “ call for a fair catch, and ice your kicker” Garrett. I believe it will take a total collapse to get Garrett fired. Really, Jerry is happy with a good show, win or loss( he said it himself when GB had a 24 point comeback vs us. Garrett of course was coaching and Romo was QB)

Since Jerry loves his step son and just wants a good show, I think it will take a 7-9 record or worse to get Garrett fired. What is your prediction?

Fortunately, Jerry doesn't have to "fire" Garret. He simply won't get a paycheck anymore and the problem will take care of itself.

My cloudy crystal ball has the 'Boys and the Eagles both at 7-7 going into their meeting in Philly. Philly wins the game, we beat the'Skins in week 17 & end up a very Garrett-esq 8-8. Jerry then moves the redhead to a quasi GM roll which severely limits the new HC search. Urban Meyer, Lincoln Riley, & any other coveted candidates say "No thanks" to interviews & we end up with another puppet.
God that's a depressing thought.

ONE.

He will either lose his job because we squander away the division in week 16 vs Eagles

Or

After a first round playoff loss

People are once again ready to put a fork in this team, but they aren't finished yet. We've all seen this story. Dont mistake my words and think Im calling us a contender. The only thing I see this team being in contention for is the division title. We cant advance with this defense unless they someone learn to play each and every week.

Garrett is NOT getting fired. His contract is up at the end of the year and I don't see it being renewed. I really wish people could comprehend that.

I'd be shocked if Kellen is let go. He's a rookie OC who is calling the plays for the #1 offense in the league. If anybody didn't see any hiccups along the way during his first season calling plays, then I don't know what to tell you. The only thing working against keeping Moore is if the new HC wants to install a new system with asst coaches he has worked with previously.

This team needs new blood and a voice Vinman. What is the worst that can happen...keep on not winning super bowls?

They need a new direction no matter how good or bad the next guy is, Garrett is not the answer.

Parts of me agree. And agree big time. After Switzer, Gailey, and Campo, trust me, I get it! When Parcells was hired, we knew a legit coach was coming to Dallas. Many had concerns about his age, health, would he have enough energy and could he deal with Jerry. Everyone knew his tenure in Dallas would not be long. Jerry got what he wanted from The Tuna, which was the stadium, corporate sponsorship, and fanbase 100% bought in. Unfortunately for the fans, winning the SB was not at the top of the list. Anyway, then we got Phillips and then Garrett. Both are different versions of Gailey and Campo, though Garrett is the best of the bunch (obviously that is not saying much). All are fairly laid back and all to happy to be part of the team.

I think that is what makes the discussion about assistants more interesting than the Garrett discussion. Garrett is out.

If the new coach lets Jerry pick his assistants, is he really any better than Garrett? I get why Moore might be retained but at the same time, if a new sheriff comes to town and agrees to keep all of Jerry's handpicked assistants, is he really a new sheriff?

It going to require Stephen Jones to convince Jerry that firing Garrett is the best option.
- SJ was not going to push the issue while Garrett was still under contract after previous seasons.
- SJ hates spending money and not getting a good return on investment...

Fired during the season: Probability is near zero.

Fired after the season:
  • Possibly if they don't make the NFC Championship game.
  • Probably if they don't win a playoff game.
  • Definitely if they finish 7-9.

Hope you are correct about Garrett. Why are you so sure?

The day after we don't make the playoffs, fire JG and schedule interviews for Urban Meyer and Lincoln Riley.

Garrett isn’t even gone yet. Your getting ahead of yourself.
