The Cowboys are heading to Foxboro. They may lose, but they may win. The Patriots aren't at 100 percent, but they are still very good.
REGARDLESS of whether they win or lose, Cowboys fans will know once and for all if Dak Prescott is the future. How Dak measures up and plays versus Belichick's defense will tell all as far as Dak's ability to play versus marquee teams.
If Dak turns in a solid game, he will show that he is the man that the Cowboys can count on to play well against any opponent.
If he turns in a 3 interception performance and struggles to hit the open receiver, he will have reinforced the doubts of those who feel that something is missing in his game.
This is the week Cowboys fans have been waiting for.
Probably other fans, as well. After Sunday, there will be no doubt.
After three years as the starter, it's a fair test.

Agreed. There's a real opportunity for him here. Actually, the next two games are against elite defenses.

This is a true litmus test for him.

He's definitely gotten better and he's listening to Kitna. That's excellent.

But now he needs to do it against teams that will actually be in the playoffs.

No more slow starts. Can't afford them.

I don't think this game has a whole lot of significance as far as Dak's future. However, I can see this game effecting Garrett's future a lot. If Dallas is embarrassed by NE, makes a lot of mental errors and looks outclassed and outcoached I can see the finger of blame heading back in Garrett's direction again. On the other hand, if the Cowboys should win, or take this game down to the wire, it gives Jerry an excuse not to fire him.

I can see the excuses are already being prepared... but, but Dak has already proven that if you let him stand in the pocket all by himself against a tomato can defense, that he can “carry the load”. Why should be have to do it against a team with a pulse? Aren’t the playoffs filled with bad defenses too?

Has Romo ever beaten NE? Remember "see you in February"?

Dak has nothing to lose in Foxboro. It's a good position to be in, now he is free to just do what Dak does... ball. The OP is wrong about this game having the potential to "seal his fate". His critics expect him to fail. There is no shame in losing to the Patriots. But if he puts up big numbers once again and wins, it could put him in the MVP race.

Pretty sure the OP is 15. Doesn't yet realize that the world doesn't bend to his child-like musings.

It’s an important game.

That being said. Even if he has a bad game, on the road in Foxboro in Cold weather against the best defense in the league, it doesn’t mean he isn’t still the guy.

I can see and feel the Goal posts being moved. First it was just a decent game by Dak would do, but now a bad game is still ok. C'mon man, you're better than this.

Nervousness and anxiety of the impending doom setting in early

I'm expecting Prescott to struggle and for us to lose.

I completely agree that if he does struggle in this one game then it does not mean that he is not the guy.

It's a win win for Prescott surely - almost a free hit as most will think he will fall flat on his face.

I'm genuinely interested to see how he gets on.

I don't agree with it sealing his fate, but I do agree that if he does well there will be no doubt. I mean your going into New Englands home, with the best Pass D with the GOAT coaching it, if he does throw 3 interceptions i'd be pissed but if he does well ill be even more impressed.

If he turns in a 3 interception performance and struggles to hit the open receiver, he will have reinforced the doubts of those who feel that something is missing in his game.
All interceptions are quarterback statistics. All interceptions are not quarterback miscues although some observers judge them the same anyway.

Why should doubts be reinforced if an interception occurs because a receiver does not catch a catchable pass that winds up in a defenders hands? Likewise, why should doubts strengthen if a receiver breaks off their route dictated by the play or defensive alignment? How are doubts more ingrained if a receiver allows his defender to outmuscle him for position in a one-on-one situation?

Every observer does not assign blame for interceptions the same way. Regardless, quarterbacks are often overly criticized because interceptions are 'their fault' despite any evidence to the contrary. That should not be the case. Unfortunately tunnelvision never sees the whole picture.

Indeed. To define any player's career (or even a season) on one game (good or bad) is preposterous.
