I agree. It's unfair to put on Dak the burden of beating the Patriots. Many great quarterbacks have tried (Peyton, Rivers, Roethlisberger, Mahommes, Wilson, etc.) and have failed.
But he can help himself if he (and the Cowboys) defeats the Pats in their home stadium.
AGAIN:
Dak doesn't have to win.
He does, however, have to avoid costly mistakes and erratic throws- something that has been a trademark of his in the past when he faces a team that is a contender.
No one is saying that Dak has to win; he does have to carry himself as a pro.

"Carry himself as a pro". Explain what that ambiguous comment means.

I like how you speak in absolutes like "Dak has to do this", "Dak has to do that", as if his value in anyway hinges upon your approval.

I'm sure this guy said the same about Payton Manning the first few times he played the Pats. This will be a test for sure for Dak, but it will really be a test for Garrett. If he goes there and wins, it will go a long way to making this team an the fans think this team has a chance to make some noise in the playoffs. Go there and get pounded and they don't deserve to even be in the playoffs with 0-4 vs winning team record. Play respectable in a loss, and its 50/50...

No more soft defense's.

This is a real test. If he's top 5 like many here like to jump around and say, then we will see.

No excuses, no blaming coaches, o-line ect.

The Cowboys are heading to Foxboro. They may lose, but they may win. The Patriots aren't at 100 percent, but they are still very good.
REGARDLESS of whether they win or lose, Cowboys fans will know once and for all if Dak Prescott is the future. How Dak measures up and plays versus Belichick's defense will tell all as far as Dak's ability to play versus marquee teams.
If Dak turns in a solid game, he will show that he is the man that the Cowboys can count on to play well against any opponent.
If he turns in a 3 interception performance and struggles to hit the open receiver, he will have reinforced the doubts of those who feel that something is missing in his game.
This is the week Cowboys fans have been waiting for.
Probably other fans, as well. After Sunday, there will be no doubt.
After three years as the starter, it's a fair test.

Here's the problem with your blanket statement. Of Prescott's 9 picks, 2 were hall mary passes at either the end of the half or game, 2 of them were tipped balls at the line of scrimmage, 1 bounced off a receivers hands a ball that was very catchable, and 1 where the defender made a really good diving pick just off the turf. So that leaves 3 picks in 10 games where Prescott himself gave up the ball. Now these missing open receivers and yes he has missed some but many of them have come either while he was scrambling or being hit just as or a split second before he's throwing. Sometimes under those situations he able to just throw it out of bounds, but other times he's trying to get it to a receiver.

Now what you didn't say is right now Prescott leads the league in passing yards, has more completions of 20 or more yards, has more TD's of 20 or more yards and the Cowboys have the highest rated offense in the league despite 5 subpar games by Elliott. There are people here that even if Prescott had 3 perfect games in a row of a passer rating of 158.3 they would still find things to complain about Prescott for and say Prescott should not get paid and is just an average QB.

The Pats were tested by the Eagles. No we don't have the same D line, but I'd say our O Line, even banged up should be able to give Dak time to answer this question.

A big test, and going in I don't expect a W, but a close game without turnovers would be a sign of progress.

They won’t listen.

I don’t even try with them anymore. He’ll look mediocre to bad against the Pats and they’ll have excuses made for him.

Most couldn’t even admit against the Vikings he screwed up in the clutch because this place stated “Dak finds ways to win” - so that narrative got shot down.

Just get ready for the L, look forward to Garrett being fired, and hope Dak gets the tag.

This is, bar none, the dumbest fan base in any sports. There is no competition.

We've faced one pass defense in the top 13 this year--New Orleans
The whole offense was terrible--including Dak.
223 yards, 0 TD, 1 int, 79 QB rating

But I really do think he plays much better at New England than he did in New Orleans.

This game is even winnable...imo.
