Living up to what Bennett's rant was about - players being all about money and contracts, and not about winning/legacy.

I get it, football is just a job to most players; but it's sad to me that fans now care about team success more than actual members of that team.

It's good Lawrence got paid. He has more money than I'll make in my lifetime.

Some will disagree with me (the usual suspects who I should block just to avoid their annoyances), I expect it. That's cool. But I miss the players like Aikman, Irvin, Romo, etc who would sacrifice anything for the joy and glory of winning a Super Bowl.

Sometimes I wish I could stop caring about the Dallas Cowboys!

This post doesn't make sense to me. Do we really expect players not to use the money they are paid, and is a player somehow more committed to winning if he puts all his money in low risk mutual funds or CD's than if he actually spends some of it?

Lawrence plays his butt off every game. Gives all he has.

Players should buy themselves a thing or two like this. It's fine. I've done it, and it's just a fun, cool thing to do. Reward yourself a bit. It reinforces the journey and keeps you motivated.

It's the guys that just go crazy with tons of jewelry, eight cars, and a house way beyond their needs or salary. Or, a bunch of houses for the whole family. Houses have a lot of additional expenses, and depreciating assets end up squandering riches away in the end. Dangerous habits.

A reasonable amount of excess is fine, as long as you've got your finances in order with a plan.

And it’s a yellow one. I don’t mind them spending there money. I just wish they would do it during offseason. But it’s not my money. They have a life and it’s a job to them. We as fans live for the season.

In what way did any of these players you named sacrifice anything? Aikman, Irvin, Romo..

IIRC, both Aikman and Irvin got paid max salaries during their era and Irvin was and still is known for flashy attire.

I think Romo made almost 200m with the Cowboys. He sacrificed some of his health, but not much else.

As for Tank...he got a nice toy. It's almost Christmas. Why not treat himself?

I'm saying he's always been about the money- even before he got his money. But I get what you're saying

Money was a supplement to their desire to win. These days, money is their main concern

Really? They should only spend the money they are paid from the day after the Super Bowl to the day before training camp? lol

If you buy a nice car within what your budget can handle, does that somehow take away from your job performance?

You gotta understand, folks are angry. These guys could be on a family outing and somebody would post here they're out celebrating, when it's really just dinner.

This bothers you? These are young millionaires. Will this purchase affect our team? Lol

What makes you believe these things?
Every generation of fans, going back 100 years, has complained that "today's players are only in it for the money, they don't love the game like players back in the day did." It's maybe the one constant thing in all professional sports.

Within someone else's budget a Mercedes might be the nice "toy" he can buy. Or for someone else, a Range Rover or a Corvette or something else. Does buying that car make those people a less effective employee?
